Subscription rip off

I was a happy user of this app years and now it suddenly stopped syncing to Apple Health. Surprisingly the changed their model and now require a paid subscription for this and many other features.
I understand that developers need to get paid but this type of bait and switch tactic is far too rampant and I will not support any dev who does this no matter how good the app. There are plenty of other options so good bye!

Dear BoscosGuy, we really do appreciate your having been a MedM user for years. Indeed, MedM has had to switch to the freemium model, in order to balance the development costs. We also want to remain independent, transparently relying on the support of our users. We understand how this change may bring discomfort, and offer special discounts to our historic user base. Please contact us at support@medm.com to claim your special offer on MedM premium membership.

Become greedy existing function now behind paywall

This was a great app providing sync to health apps. The trending reporting functions are well done. Sync to other apps was part of products function when sold. But With the last update the developers have put the sync function behind a paywall. So your personal data now has to be paid for. I Recommend you find a product that does not limit your use of your own data or has a history of moving free functions behind a paywall.

Response from developer

Dear TheBudgie, thank you for the kind words about our app's reporting functions and other features. Please note that users retain full control of their data and can export it as a file, share with other trusted users, or altogether delete it. Indeed, data sync with Apple Health has become a premium feature as part of our effort to balance the cost of maintenance & development with meeting user expectations and data protection requirements. We are happy to offer special discounts to loyal users, please contact us at support@medm.com to claim yours.

Horrible company

You could sync with Apple Health, after the update you need to pay. What a terrible company.

Response from developer

Dear SalamandraV, thank you for your feedback, we are happy to learn that you have found our Apple Health sync feature useful. In order to keep the app running and to balance the costs of maintenance & development MedM has, indeed, introduced a subscription for premium features. We understand that this change brings discomfort for our long-time users who are used to receiving the MedM service completely free. To ease the pain of this transition and to show gratitude for the trust and support of our loyal users we offer special discounts to them. Please contact use at support@medm.com to claim your loyal user discount.

Great app with conditional functions

It is a good application and mostly does what it is supposed to. I like the graphics: self-explanatory chart, easy to navigate around, calculates averages of BB for the day, and a few more options.

Unfortunately, it will not sync readings to Apple Health unless you purchase a subscription. I understand the developer has financial obligations, but the medical records belong to the user, and Apple Health is free. I would not pay for a subscription to transfer data from one app to another or share the readings with the provider, certainly not by making monthly payments. I guess manual input is an option.

I give it five stars because I like the app and its design. Works very well with Oxiline Blood Monitor X Pro.

We really appreciate your constructive feedback, ezTonino! MedM does need to stay in business and remain accountable to its users, so our subscription for premium features (which are the most expensive and complicated to maintain) seems to be the most transparent and honest route. Please contact us at support@medm.com for a special offer on our subscription.

Data sync now behind pay wall

Just got an email from them. Have to pay to get this app to transfer your BP results to Apple’s health app. Just last week it was free. Now $$$$. Greedy company

Response from developer

Dear LeeZe2011, MedM is an independent software developer and we aim to balance the development costs with the free and the premium features (Apple Health sync included). With that said, we understand your frustration with the recent changes. MedM does provide special offers to loyal users, please contact us at support@medm.com if you have not yet received yours.

Apple Health Connect now requires subscription.

I have been using this app for years. It’s the only app that works with my FirstMed 2080 machine as far as I can see. It has worked well and it has always synced with Apple health - until the latest updates. It now requires me to pay more for a years subscription than I paid for the blood pressure machine. It would be cheaper to buy a new machine each year if it came with Apple health connect! Guess I’ll be looking into another BP monitor.

Dear KennyO456, we are honoured to have had your trust as a MedM user for years. In 2024 we switched to the "freemium" model in order to balance the costs of development, maintenance, and support. We have kept the "must have" functionality in the basic version and offer a subscription for advance features that require the most investment. We understand that this change brings discomfort and provide special offers to loyal users in order to alleviate the pain of the transition. Please contact us at support@medm.com if you have not received yours.

No More Apple Health Syncing

I loved this app especially since it doesn’t collect personal info and syncs with Apple Health. With this recent update, they blocked syncing with Apple Health behind a monthly subscription… Now I’ll just enter the details manually until I find a better app.

Response from developer

Dear Thenaber, we are very sorry to hear that the price of our subscription is keeping you from using the feature you found useful. Please contact our support team at support@medm.com to claim your special offer for loyal users. This transition time is not easy for MedM, but in order to stay in operation and to continue offering quality software services to our users, while remaining independent user-focused developer, we must secure funding. MedM answers directly to users, and for this reason we have made the decision to make our funding transparent and user-depended. We would appreciate your support.

Not another subscription please

Was a happy user of this app for a while - clean interface, simple functionality, Apple Health sync. Now the Apple Health sync is locked away behind the premium subscription, and I’m looking for an alternative. Disappointed but maybe not surprised.

Response from developer

Dear cowboy_k, we are very glad that you liked our app's clean interface, simplicity, and the Apple Health sync feature. Please contact us at support@medm.com to claim you special offer on the subscription as a loyal user. We understand that the paywall brings stress and negative feelings, but, honestly, relying on the financial support of our users is the only way that we can keep the apps running and improving.

Apple health sync locked behind a subscription now

I cannot believe they’ve moved syncing blood pressure measurements with Apple health behind a 5$ a month subscription. That’s ridiculous and as much as I liked the app not collecting data like the omron app does I’m just not going to pay for a basic feature like that and will be switching to the omron app

Dear Circa85, please contact our support at support@medm.com to claim your special offer on our subscription. We understand your disappointment and discomfort associated with the introduction of MedM Premium subscription. This was not a decision that MedM took lightly, but in order to continue operation and providing our users with the quality and secure software service they deserve, we had to find a way to finance its maintenance, development, and support. MedM is an independent software developer, not sponsored by hardware manufacturers, and we consider getting a subscription fee from users - the most transparent and honest way of making a living and staying in business. We do appreciate your feedback, trust, and support.

Synchronization Issue! Don’t UPDATE!!!

So I have been using the app for over a month now with the Oxiline BPM without any issues. Today the app updates and stops syncing with Apple Health saying that it is paid feature now?! REALLY?! Why would you do this? A free feature became paid with an update??? This makes me to rethink and go for a different option now!

Response from developer

Dear Elvinitto, please contact our support at support@medm.com for a special offer on our subscription as a loyal user. MedM is not affiliated with or sponsored by Oxiline or any other hardware vendor, we do try to integrate as many sensors as possible and to offer our users the most flexibility and security. We do have a team of 20 professionals, who, unfortunately, require food and drink and other kinds of maintenance, so MedM has to rely on financial support from users in order to continue offering quality software and working on making it better.
