  • Unusable until you fix this

I want to give this app 5 stars but I can’t because it is currently unusable since you cannot add new items to the database unless you have a barcode.

I find it strange that you can so easily add a barcoded item to the public database and then if there happened to be any incorrect information on it they don’t allow you to edit it. You can report that the nutritional information is incorrect but you cannot edit it. You have to wait for them to fix it. This makes no sense to me and I find a lot of things I scan in this app have the incorrect nutritional information and I suspect that this lack of feature is why.

Also you cannot add a food at all unless it has a barcode. You can submit one to be approved by the Foodvisor team but you cannot easily add it like when you have a barcode which I find very strange. This makes it hard to track calories and macros with this app when eating out. And even when not eating out it’s been difficult because there is so much incorrect nutritional information on this app, so pay attention.

It’s a shame because otherwise this app is pretty much perfect and gives a lot of value for the free version. I was thinking about paying for the full version but now I will definitely not be doing that and sadly will probably be continuing my journey of looking for the perfect nutrition tracking app.

  • Great tool!

It is only my second day using the app. I just love it. I become a bit obsessive when tracking fitness and biomarker changes. This was what I was missing: a great tool that allows to easily track food intake, macros, and provide analysis and tips. The food detection functionality is great, scanning packaged products, taking photos, or searching. I was able to scan my protein shake and greens supplements. Also my snack bars, tea, and stevia. I was amazed when using the photo recognition for the first time that it recognized a slice of cheese, but also the correct type, and it is not really a mainstream one (I believe: it was Comte Rivoire). I can even add LaCroix cans even though they have no calories or nutritional value (see the obsessive behavior). I love how you can adjust your macros, based on dietary preferences like low carb and then customize on top the exact percentages. Also great that they include intermittent fasting management, also customizable and adjustable on the fly for every day if you start later or earlier. Lots of recipes and information on nutrition and activity.
What I am missing: besides core nutritional values, the app also tracks mineral and oligoelement intake. It doesn't however seem to recognize supplements that one may take if their diet is low on something. It would be an improvement to be able to add those by scanning the barcodes :)

  • Big disappointment

I tried this app and it didn’t live up to my hopes. I found logging food to be more of a hassle than in other similar applications I’ve used. I found it very difficult to add my own recipes, and when I contacted customer support to get help, they acknowledged that the problems I brought up were something they need to improve. I have used other food tracking apps and find it a pain to enter my meals at times, especially if it’s a recipe I’ve made at home, or a dish from a restaurant. When I saw the AI feature in this app, I was hoping it would make food logging easier but I found it to be very inaccurate. In addition, my understanding was that I could try out this app for 14 days, and I could get a refund if I was not happy with it if I requested the refund before the 14 days were up. This was not the case as my refund request denied. I do not recommend this app.

  • Great Product

With this app and exercise I’m down 10lbs and 5% body fat in 12 weeks! I appreciate the well rounded aspect of this program. It doesn’t worry just about weight but discusses overall well being in many of the courses. I do find the goal weight recommendations antiquated and based solely on BMI; if that could be refined that would be great. Some of the frowny face foods I don’t agree with and some of the happy face meals could be challenged - maybe fine tuned to account for number of calories. A good day isn’t taking in a dangerously low number of calories. As a user, you have to be mindful of some of the foods that have been logged in the catalog. Sometimes the foods entered have incorrect macros, either simply wrong or by serving size; a review of dishes entered would be good.

  • Do not pay for the workouts

This app works amazing! I love just about everything about it, except the premium workouts. The premium workouts are made for absolute beginners. There is no options to customize the routine as of 7 days in. I sent an email to support 3 days ago asking if the workouts would get tougher and if so how long would it take and I have not received a reply yet. Other than that I would recommend this app to anyone especially the person who hates counting macros. I would get anxiety just thinking about figuring out what macros where in the food I was eating or meal planning. This app gives you the option to take a picture of your food and it breaks it down. My one suggestion for the app would be to give recommendations as to the type of food I could eat to reach my macros. For example if I still needed 20g of fat and 10g of protein to complete my circles maybe give me a recommendation of eating 15g of peanut butter.

  • Too much kale?!

I’m only a few days in but right off the bat I’m seeing philosophical differences. I know I eat too little protein and appreciate the apps food swap recommendations to include more protein. The analysis of each meal is a pretty cool feature too. I eat plant based so when it tells me I’m eating too much fiber and recommends cutting back on the kale I begin to doubt its sensibility. We are a seriously fiber deficient culture and I’ve always tried for at least 35 g per day. I don’t see protein starved individuals walking around either. According to this app I’ve fulfilled all my fiber requirements by breakfast. Um, 16 grams, to me, is just too low. I never meet my fat requirements either. If losing weight means I have to eat a lot more fat and protein then I’m doomed. If your objective is only weight loss, ignoring all else, then this is probably a good program and you will most likely lose weight due to a caloric deficit while maintaining muscle. I’m a very healthy but overweight 70 year old on zero meds. I’m grateful for the 2 week free trial but not sure that I can modify my diet this extremely.

  • Great for those who feel “stuck” in bad habits

Over the pandemic, I developed some really unhealthy habits. Namely, I sat on my phone a lot and only ate highly processed, sugary foods. This app snapped me out of a 3+ years habit of unhealthiness, and my mood has improved immensely. I genuinely could not remember a time when I didn’t have brain fog, but here we are; my head feels clear. I downloaded the app for weight-loss goals, and it has helped with that, but more importantly, I’m learning how to make my meals more balanced and nutritious. I’ve also started holding myself accountable for bad habits.

Overall, don’t expect miracles, but if you’re willing to put in the work, it will make a difference.

  • Ummmmm…

this app 😩! it’s fat shaming me! so it’s story time… i had 1 and a half pieces of pizza for dinner so i logged it as 2 pieces. i already am trying to eat better and less so i thought i was doing good. but later that night on meal insights it says “try to have fewer slices next time.” like eXcUsE mE!? ☝🏻 let me see you get full off of one slice of pizza. i don’t even think the rat that lives in the corner could get full off one piece of pizza 😩🐀. anyway the app is really bad about identifying what you are eating. i was mad after that experience so i went and ate some cheesecake and it tried to identify it… and the random things it identified as *sputters* i can’t even tell you. so at least i got in my laugh for the day. anywho if your a 13 year old like me and download the app because it says its 4+ it’s a lie. i got in and put my birthday and it was like you have to be 16. i was like ummmm red flag 🚩. the only reason i will give it 2 stars is because you can link you apple health and it will say you “burned calories”. anyway i wouldn’t personally recommend the app unless you can eat one slice of pizza 🍕. try to improve this please. 🙏🏻

  • It actually works

Accidentally stumbled across this app a month and a half ago and decided to try it out. I’ve never been one for the extreme diets, so Foodvisor seemed good for me as it’s more of a lifestyle change where you eat what you want. I swear, this app has worked so well!! I do not feel like I’m depriving myself of anything I want, I feel more educated on my food choices and how they affect my weight and health, and I feel a lot better. I’ve lost 23 pounds so far and plan on losing 20 more to reach my goal. The classes are so easy and actually educational to me. The app UI is super clean and flows well, I love the new AI features that detect your meal and offer suggestions for how to make it healthier.

I plan to keep using this app for the foreseeable future. Only thing I wish it had was better ways to log your food, in the sense of not only having to use grams, but being able to input cups or oz without having to use an online converter lol.
