Best Intro Bass App

This app is an infoproduct and fishing software that adds a ton of insight on how to fish from a scientific aspect . I found this from the youtuber who forefronted this project around 4 years ago. On days I couldn’t get a bite after 30 minutes or so, I would pull out this app and start to use tips . It significantly helped my feeling of “I dont know whete to go from here”. Super helpful! The short minute - minute and half videos per rig are a great refresher and helps keep fishing simple. Regarding the bass forecast rating, its a great starting point to try the recommended patterns as I’ve found they are correct a lot of times regarding patterns to fish and baits to use. Although, like the youtuber affirms, this is a suggestion and great starting point, and you should adapt with the conditions. This is exactly true.

I bought the pro subscription immediately for the tackle warwhouse gift card back then but remained the subscription fot the rest of the features. Im happy to support this young ambitious youtuber on his entrepreneurial journey.

All in all, this is a great infoproduct and software made by a good spirit that’s helped my fishing skill.

Glitchy and not helpful

I started using this app about a year ago. I very much liked the idea of using this to plan a fishing outing. The problem is the rating and what baits you should use changes all the time. Literally last night the app said today was supposed to be a 10 and I wake up this morning and the rating is a 5. I have seen rating change within a day. One rating for a day in the morning changes by the afternoon. You cannot plan anything with this app because it’s ratings and hence suggestions are changing constantly.
The app is incredibly glitchy and the majority or ratings on here, even the 4 or 5 star ratings mention how glitchy this app is.
I paid 20 dollars for the pro membership and I have not caught a single bass based on the suggestions of this app. I recently started using Fishbrain and I have found it much more helpful and have caught bass using the apps information. This app is not helpful.

Hi there! When the ratings change this just means BassForecast is working perfectly by adjusting to changing weather forecasts. Don't let that stop you. If you want to know why it changed, click on the little blue fish icon upper right. Also, look at the Adapted Patterns for ideas on adapting your game plan to changing conditions. We hope to earn 5 stars from you.

No x for pop ups

Every time I try to use the app it just gives me a whole bunch of pop ups to upgrade to premium without an x to get out of it

Why full screen ad whith no x

Every time I load in I get a ad for premium and thare s no way to get out of it whith out cliking on learn more or reloading the app

Just terrible

Downloaded the app and paid for a one year full subscription. For starters, the app constantly asks for you to sign up before realizing your already have. The BIG problem is their weather forecast does’t work. Their forecast, based on Accuweather, does t match the forecast on the actual Accuweather website. The app called for a weekend of fair weather full of sunshine and made fishing suggestions based on same. In reality it rained and stormed all weekend, as predicted by Accuweather.

To too it all off, the Tackle Warehouse “gift card” isn’t a gift card. It’s a coupon. What the difference? Instead of having to spend $50 for free shipping and getting your order in less than a week, you have to spend $70. If not, then you are charged $6.75 in shipping and delivery is pushed back to almost a month. Tackle Warehouse chat support confirmed they are aware of this false advertising but said basically they won’t honor it as a gift card and it’s my problem to deal with.

So I have an app that doesn’t work and a gift card that is going to cost me more in the long run than it’s worth.

Thanks Bass Forecast. I’m done with you and Tyler’s reel fishing. For a guy who claims to be a strong man of faith, this is a HORRIBLE way to do business.

Dear Eaglewings, Since you said you are already a PRO customer, you must have an old gift card that you are trying to redeem. The new improved gift cards that began 1/1/24 is exactly as advertised. A $20 gift card and only a $20 minimum order. Please email us at support@bassforecast.com and we will send you a new gift card right away. Regarding your comment about AccuWeather, all of ours match because it is a direct feed from AccuWeather. There may be some device specific glitch. Please email us screen shots from both AccuWeather and BassForecast and we will have the tech team take a look at it. Thanks

Was enjoying but something is wrong now

About 2 weeks ago the app completely stopped working for about three days. When it did start back working all of my saved lakes and information were gone. Then when it came back the country India was a saved as two lakes, which I did not save and I couldn’t delete them from my list of lakes. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Afterwards all my lakes and information returned and only one India lake was on my list. I live in Texas and have no reason to have the country India saved as a lake. I was finally able to delete it permanently. Now every couple days the app forces me re-sign up for the pro version which I paid for almost a year ago. Once I sign on, it recognizes that I’m already a pro member. Also the current condition in my area is spawn season. The app says summer currently and I keep having to change it to post spawn, which we aren’t in. This region is in spawn. Before I started having issues the app season didn’t match my region and I would have to change it. I was enjoying the app until this glitch. I’m worried about my information being compromised. My 12 months as a pro member is about to end and if these issues aren’t fixed I’m afraid I won’t be renewing my subscription. Also I mostly bank fish ponds, retention ponds and bank fish lakes. Is there an option where the app can read the ponds I fish in my area instead of the lakes?

$20 a year for info you can get online and changing forecasts!

So it’s only $20 for a whole year plus you get a $20 gift card. But the info isn’t great. Maybe for a beginner but most recommendations are obvious ie switch to finesse if it’s cold. Also the forecast changes A LOT. Tomorrow and the next day were forecasted in the 7s all through yesterday. Now they are 4s. Next had a day ranked 10. I was super stoked. Now it’s a 3. If their whole selling point is a 10 day forecast so you can plan a fishing trip, but the day rankings change wildly, then what am I actually getting? Most of this info can be found online for free. And Tyler Anderson? I actually do love his videos but he’s super corny and his Christian capitalism is not appealing. There’s go to be a better app.

Glad to hear that you think most of our recommendations are obvious. That is because you are an experienced angler. When the weather forecast changes, our ratings and recommendations change with it. I think you are being harsh and unfair by blaming us for changing weather forecasts. We can't control the weather, but we can adapt to it. Even super experienced tournament anglers have challenges adapting and our app can even help them track how changing weather affects the bite. For example, in this year's Bassmaster Classic aka "The Super Bowl of bass fishing" Justin Hamner switched the final day of the tournament to a faster presentation speed and won the $300,000 grand prize. Most other anglers were still fishing slow...because slow worked yesterday. Guess what presentation speed BassForecast predicted for the final day of the tournament? >> "Fish Fast" Adjusting to ever changing weather forecasts is super tricky....You should use us for the entire season (or at least 10 trips) and then write us back your observations. Happy bassin

Frustrating

This app does have some useful basic general information about lure suggestions for different seasons and water conditions. With that said, the main feature of this app is the predictive bass forecast rating that gives a rating out of 10 on how hot the bite is supposed to be. This rating is based off of barometric pressure, temperature, lunar cycles, wind speeds, etc. I have never found this rating to be a good indicator of anything. I have only found it to be a source of frustration when I schedule my fishing outings around this apps suggestions and get skunked, meanwhile if I follow my own intuition and general knowledge about the best times to go fishing and baits to throw I can catch bass just fine. This app routinely suggests that fishing during the middle of the day is a “major time” for feeding based on solunar cycles. It just seems like the data points are not scaled for their impact on bass eating patterns and all carry equal weight which is simply not the case. It’s an over simplification that will cause more headaches than it’s worth. With that said, the 20 dollar coupon to tackle warehouse is a nice incentive to buy, and my coupon did work. I just can’t possibly recommend this app to anyone.

Hello. Happy to help clear up your confusion. The outputs are not "basic and general," There are 9 bass seasons, 22 categories of baits, 4 different bite mood ratings and 15 possible lake structure (depth and contours) locations producing 11,880 possiblilites. That is why the sport is so challenging and fun. The BassForecast Adapted Pattern outputs (top 5 recommendations) are adapted to forecast weather based on real time weather and bass industry data. We tracked 6 top flight tournaments this year and our "Adapated Pattern" recommendations matched the winning pattern baits and locations with 86% accuracy! Sounds like you have great intuition...Keep using your intuition. I do too. I use the app as an indicator of what game plan to use...NOT how many fish you are going to catch becuase there are many variables not in your control (fishing pressure, local lake conditions, etc). The Adapted Pattern recommendations usually match and reinforce my game plan...Where they DO NOT, I use the bait, location and presentation ideas as Plan B. There have been many days where I used something BassForecast Adapated Patterns suggested I was not planning on using and it made a big difference. So, it is a gut check and plan B tool. And, since it only takes 2 minutes to look at and absorb before each trip, why not? I hope this helps and Happy Bassin. Note. After you use Adapted Patterns on at least 10 trips/days, please write us at support@bassforecast.com. We hope to earn a 5 star rating from you after you do so. Thanks

More features

I love the app, it’s been amazing as far as telling me when a good time is to go fishing! I love that it gives you the top 5 and the predictions for the up coming days. The only thing I wish it had, was more features to put in for your day of fishing.
For example, open the app, and you have options to choose if your fishing a lake, a pond creek whatever it may be, then being able to choose if the fish have been biting, if they’re difficult or if they’re just all over the place. And then another category that asks you about the water clarity with a variety of options because I think all that information calculated could make all the difference especially for bass fishers that are just now getting into the game.
Most people can catch on fast, most wanna just do it for the sport, and I think this app could help people learn more if it just had more to it!
It really would be so helpful with those types of features! All in all, I’m a pro member and use it daily!

UPDATED 9-21-23 by the founder. Just read your suggestions and want you to know that they have been in our plans for a while now...So, great suggestions. Like any product, the more $ we have the more we can spend on product innovations. So, please support our contiuous improvement efforts by subscribing to PRO. At $1.66 month, it is literally, the cost of one simple restaurant meal per year...and it really helps us. Hi!! Thank you for sending in your feedback on how we could improve the app! Users like you taking the time to write in help us to keep making the app better in the future. I'll be sure to pass this along to the rest of our team.

Not Good won’t load 80% of time

Since I upgraded to pro the app doesn’t work or load nearly all the time… like it’s a scam to get pro and works was worse than the free version.
