  • Works fine in 2023

    While there are newer locks, I wanted something to integrate with my pretty extensive existing Homekit setup. Despite some critical reviews I decided to give it (Premis lock) a shot. I have an AppleTV 4k about 30 feet from the door this is in, and an iPhone 14 (iOS 17). I set it up using the iPhone 14, integrating it into my existing home. Worked immediately from both the phone, and using HomeKit via Siri from other devices. Incorporated it into an automation with no issues. Works perfectly with all devices. If I have problems with the next OS update, I'll report back, but happy so far.

  • It’s time for an update to push rich notifications

    I love my Kwikset smart locks but have always wished there were RICH notifications rather than the dumb ones of “someone unlocked/locked the door”. Come on, Kwikset. It is way past time for a real update to the app. It needs a more refined HomeKit experience. I hope you will make it happen.
  • Underrated

    I have had this lock for a year and 2 iOS versions. We have had the occasional hiccup with it not responding (as is the case with MANY smart devices) but overall I’m very pleased. I bought a second one for my basement door. Works great with Siri or with the touchpad. There is an automation for opening it when we arrive at home which works very well. We have replaced the batteries once so far with standard batteries and will do again this week with lithium ones. The app is minimal but we use Apple home for everything anyway. The app is a backup and has worked for us.

  • Upgrade disappointing

    Installed Halo touch, a month ago took programming fine. Received recommendation for upgrading the app for my iPhone 12 Pro which was deleting the app and reinstalling the new app. Everything was lost had to basically reinstall the lock and program the lock. Now I get a notification every time it is locked or unlocked and every time I use the app it doesn’t remember my password and I have it toggled Sorry you missed it and don’t think I will ever try another upgrade. Probably looked better on paper. Why do I get settings questions each time I re-enter my password and if you press back you have to password again! App is garbage.

  • Where the heck is the lock!

    Upgraded from a another brand Z-Wave that ate batteries like they were free. Live in the Apple world so was happy when I found the Premise that would work with HomeKit. The problem is the app can never find the lock. When I open the app I constantly get “Lock status cannot be found”. One out of every 5 checks the lock status will finally appear. I have reset the app/lock setup multiple times with the same result. Absolutely useless! Love the fact though that Kwikset locks can be easily programmed to change the lock key to an existing key which was easy to do. So now it looks like I have the security of a deadbolt with a fancy face.

  • Keeps disconnecting

    This unit will not stay connected for remote access. I am continually having to take the cover off and reset. Comes up as “no response” on the Kwikset app and HomeKit. It will “maybe” work for a day, but then stops communicating. I paid a premium price for a WiFi door lock and have had nothing but problems. I chose Kwikset for the ability to change the lock to my other Kwikset key. Even trying to ask a question on their app doesn’t work! Try to upload a required picture and it takes you back to the unit trying to connect! You can’t upload a picture. Kwikset needs to fix this issue NOW!

  • Useless

    Does not update lock status while away. Only time it shows lock status is when you’re standing near the door with your phone. It also falsely shows as “unlocked” when it’s actually locked while remote (verified several times with someone at home), which makes me question its accuracy. Completely unreliable and can be dangerous if it doesn’t provide correct status information. This shouldn’t be on the App Store until it’s fixed.

  • SOFTWARE ISSUES! WHY HAS IT BEEN A YEAR?!

    Why has it been a year since the app has been updated? I have so many software issues that I have worked with Support. I have done all possible troubleshooting, I have even purchased a new (same) lock to troubleshoot and set up under a whole different iPhone, same issues.
    Siri doesn’t hear back from the lock.
    Siri (HomeKit) controls every aspect of my smart home perfectly, except this lock.
    I bought a different brand lock and that lock was awesome. Why do I stick with this lock? I don’t want to spent another $200+. I love the design. It worked great when the app wasn’t a year freaking old. Come on Kwikset, what is going on??!!

    Been using Premis deadbolt lock for a year and eight months, I have zero complaints. About a year ago the app was a little wonky but now everything is perfect. Thank you Kwikset for making the perfect HomeKit deadbolt. I have recommended this product to tons of my friends and they love it too. Kwikset tech support is amazing too. A+

    This app is garbage it does not work it constantly kick you out and tell you that a whole bunch of error messages to thumbs down
