  • Horrible Support

I purchased this from Costco and more than likely it is going to be returned. I cannot get it to pair up with my iPhone and I have tried contacting customer support from Kwikset four times and never get through and they will not call back when you leave your number.
I would like to keep it now that is installed but if I cannot get it working with the app there is no point in keeping it

  • Broken and no longer supported

They are charging $200 for these locks, and the app that supports them no longer works. As of this writing they last updated the app 2 years ago. Apple should kick them off the App Store. Further this is negligence on their part and probably worthy of a class action lawsuit for selling what is effectively a defective product. There is nobody answering the phone at customer support, they just have you on hold forever. There seems to be no other way to contact Kwikset other than by phone, which means they can’t really be contacted. I’m sure this is by design. I have two of these locks and I want my $400 back.

  • Lost all my data and doesn’t work with iOS 13

App lost all my data! I can’t delete users or add uses anymore. I was on hold for 56 minutes before my call was answered... reading other reviews it appears they have been experiencing “unusually high call volumes” for the past 2 years. This lock was awesome until IOS 13. I replaced my last Kwikset lock with this premis unit as it was “specifically designed to work with Apple HomeKit” grrrrrr I’m so disappointed !

  • Stopped Working with last iOS Release

Until recently the app worked fine, no complaints. With iOS 13, it doesn’t even see the lock anymore. I can’t add or delete access codes, turn on or off auto lock, etc. I can still use HomeKit, but I have renters I need to add and remove access codes for, and HomeKit doesn’t handle that. I bought a new Schlage and replaced the Premis over the weekend. This is ridiculous.

  • No updates for 2 years! Doesn’t work in iOS 13

When I first bought this lock, I loved it! I bought 2 locks and recommended it to friends. Sadly, there have been no app updates in 2 years, and now it’s completely broken in iOS 13. I can’t even use my wife’s phone on iOS 12. When I launch the app, it thinks I’m trying to setup a new lock.

Clearly, the company doesn’t care about customers. OS updates happen all the time and software companies should at least do regression testing on their apps, even if they’re too lazy to enhance their products.

    Their web site states that:

”Our team is working to address the issue in iOS 13, please use the Home app to continue to manage your Premis locks.”

They have no clue how their app or HomeKit works. You can’t “manage” the lock from HomeKit, you can only open or close the lock You can manage users or access. They don’t seem to understand that this negative customer experience due to their lack of proactive testing will impact sales of their other locks, smart or traditional. Very disappointing.

  • Paid too much for product that doesn’t work!

    FIX THIS APP!!!

It is completely broken since iOS 13. It has been MONTHS and the locks cannot be used as designed, for their intended purpose.

We spent a hell of a lot of money for these locks. We chose them over the competition not only because they are Apple compatible, but EXPLICITLY because (1) we can control them remotely through the app, (2) we can see exactly WHO has been entering our property through the app, (3) we can grant temporary access through the app, and (4) we can disable access altogether through the app.

WE CANNOT DO ANY OF THOSE THINGS NOW! All we can do is use the Apple Home app to lock and unlock the door with our phones. Any of the competitors could’ve done that much for us, and at a tiny fraction of the cost.

Will definitely be shopping for a new solution ASAP.

  • No updates in 2 years, do not get this lock

Kwikset is not properly maintaining the app. After iOS 13 the app will not remember my lock anymore. The lock itself still works and is still connected to HomeKit, but I’ve lost the ability to change users, change access codes, etc.

I would not recommend getting this lock. it’s only a matter of time before it falls so far into disrepair that it stops working completely.

  • Not supported in iOS 12+

This app does not work and needs to be updated.
  • Set up new lock nightmare

I’ve had my Kwikset Premis lock for about a year now and set it up and used it no problem but when I tried to go onto the app on my new iPhone I got stuck in a continuous set up new lock senecio and cannot view my lock that is already set up. I decided that I would just delete the lock in the premis app and then set it back up and to my surprise when I did that it deleted my entire HomeKit set up, had to redo all my lutron and other HomeKit devices. All I was wanting to do was to turn off the auto lock feature for Halloween but it ended up being a whole lot more complicated due to the buggy app. Seems that this is a known problem so hopefully they’ll correct it sooner rather than later.

  • What happened?

Ever since the latest update this app is unusable- it auto deleted my home and lock. When trying to re-add my lock it does not function nor connect with the app. Luckily so far it is still connected to my Apple HomeKit so still works but I am unable to add key codes, change codes or pretty much anything else with this lock now as it is unable to connect to the app. Guess I’ll have to look at Yale’s lock to go with my google stuff. What a waste of money
