  • Onerous terms

Does this mean they can sell my comings and goings to advertisers? “By using the App, you consent to the transmission of information to Spectrum, including its agents and third-party partners, and consent to Spectrum, including its agents and third-party partners, receiving, collecting, storing, processing, transmitting, and using any information you submit or transmit for App functionality and for the purposes disclosed in our Privacy Policy, subject to the limitations on use of Address Book information listed above.”

Also, this app isn’t even sized for iPhone X’s screen, so they’re clearly not taking app development seriously.

  • No updates for this buggy app for 2 years? Seriously?

    Please do your job, guys!
  • Don’t buy this lock or app

I’ve had it over a year. Extremely unreliable. Tried opening remotely & it would open but not lock again. Turns out the batteries were low but the lights didn’t indicate that. Zero customer support, emailed & called & they never called me back or emailed. Glad it works for some people, but it’s a crap shoot. The app worked at first but now it reverted to pre installation status & can’t find the lock even when my phone is sitting right on it. Like someone else said, when you put your hand over the touchscreen & the numbers come up, it usually takes 10 seconds or more before the button will press. I don’t care if this review is supposed to be for the app & not the lock. Do yourself a favor & don’t buy it or take it back. & I have a home network that works fine. I would never buy another Kwikset product.

  • not compatible with HomeKit as advertised

Kwikset Premis app has not been updated in over a year. It’s not configured for newer iPhones. App stopped working in September 2018, when iOS12 came out. Kwikset and the app developer have been aware of the issue for nearly four months, but they choose to ignore and hide it. Kwikset Premis is still for sale and boasts HomeKit compatibility. Owners of this app and lock were never notified about the known issues.

    Recommend trying another app/company...

  • Apple iOS 12.1 Update has disable “remote” access on Kwikset Premis Lock

Since the recent Apple update, the Premis app is not functional for ‘remote access’ if you’re not within feet of the device. It gives an error that message says: “Lock Not Available”.

Since then, I contacted technical support (over 5 days ago from today)to inform them of the matter and followed all the steps to troubleshoot the issue. It was not resolved and was escalated. As of today, no correspondence on the resolution date of this matter. Hopefully it’s very soon, since this is the main reason why I purchase this device for the remote access feature.

Overall, great product w/ no other issues to report at this time. I’ve had the device for about 12 months now.

  • iOS 12 compatibility

When is this app going to be updated to work with iOS 12? As many others have stated it’s worthless you have to be within a couple feet of the lock in order to connect, at that point you’re just better off using the key — which defeats the whole purpose of the entire thing.
  • No updates

Since the updates on iOS operating system in both phone and tv this app can't be use any longer as a remote to lock or unlock the door unless you are 3 feet away. No firmware update in more than a year.

Update on this review, now we discover that unless you grant anytime access the lock stop working for those that have a limited access, no safe at all.

Very expensive and fancy lock that stoped being functional. Very disappointed.

Update on this review: I have been working with their customer support services and I was told that their engineers are working with Apple. Kwikset claims that this is a problem with all electronic locks that use home kit, but not according to Apple, if you bring your Apple TV near the lock, then all starts working again, but as soon as you move the apple tv more than 5 feet away it stops working. This according to Apple is a unique problem to the Premis because they have not updated their firmware in more than a year.

  • Useless since update

Update: I contacted the developer and they said “try these steps” as if I hadn’t before. Of course it didn’t work. The developer seems to have no care to take care of the iOS 12 issue.

Ever since the iOS 12 update this app is worthless. You can only connect if you are Bluetooth connected. I can’t unlock the door while I’m out anymore. I don’t think they care since it’s been over a year since the last update and iOS 12 have been out for almost 2 months. It was working fine for over a year. You’d think a big company like Kwikset would be able to do an update.

  • Does its job

Much better than the Kevo lock and app I had before. Does what it is supposed to do and I haven’t had the same issues with iOS 12 that other have. Like the lock in general but I do agree though that Kwikset could at least update the app as there are bugs and it’s been over one year since there has been an update. Haven’t even updated to iPhone X full screen and now the XS is out. Cmon Kwikset! At least make it look like you follow through on your products. We pay enough for them.

  • No longer working with iPhone's Siri to unlock door in latest iOS 12

Every since iOS 12 was released Kwikset doesn't work properly with Homekit. Attempting to use Siri on both of our iPhone's results in Siri giving an error message stating that there is an issue and to refer to the Home app. I can usually still unlock the lock with the Home app, but unlocking with Siri is broken. And before someone asks, it doesn't matter if my iPhone is locked or unlocked. It will always fail when the iPhone is locked which seems to be by design likely for security reasons. However when the iPhone is unlocked using Siri to unlock the Premis lock fails around 66% of the time.

Yet the Home app doesn't have any issues. Siri control of our lights and Garage Door work normally, thus it is mostly likely the Kwikset implementation having some conflict with the recently released iOS 12 operating system.

Also note that I have an Apple TV 4th gen within 10 feet of the lock and enabled as our Homekit Hub specifically for the purpose of making the lock not limited by bluetooth. Again, the lock usually works with Homekit and this app to unlock. Siri is what is completely broken.
