Don’t buy a Yamaha piano if you are planning to use the app
The piano is great and very expensive however the Yamaha app is a one star since there were no lower stars rating to give.
It never works don’t be fooled by the demo at the store and pay top dollar for that option.

This app is horrible.
I own a Disklavier piano. The controller app is horrible, and makes the piano impossible to use as I intended. Sadly, while my piano is new, I expect this app is sunset and rotting on the vine. I spent 15 years in software companies, and such crappy tech for such a beautiful instrument is egregious. After spending tens of thousands to have this piano play in my home, it just… doesn’t. Do your research and save your money.

Never ever, ever buy this piano or product.
I own a Disklavier piano. I think it’s very telling that it was 3 years ago when Yamaha last updated this disfunctional software. We spent tens of thousands on a piano and this horrible interface keeps us from enjoying the very reason we bought the piano. This app never works, it stops playing for no reason pretty much every time. You cannot have a party and expect the piano to work because this app is so unreliable. You call Yamaha and they can’t fix it. You call your local piano dealer and they blame “your internet connection”. We got the piano Ethernet hard ward and it still doesn’t work. The app constantly spins “connecting” and you wait so long that you get frustrated and close the app. You walk away, and 15 minutes later the piano randomly starts playing. The reviews are consistently horrible and yet Yamaha does nothing. I wish I’d been warmed just how awful and unworkable this product is.

Disappointed
The connection isn’t stable nor does the app support any airplay or Bluetooth connectivity to any additional speakers.
I’d expect this buying something from Walmart; for the price of the Grand Piano, I expected so much more. Even more concerning the last app update for the app was two years ago.
For the curious we did have a professional tech do the installation. The app is just bad

I am also disappointed
It seems like the interface would be significantly better. I just got an iPhone 15 Pro and it will not recognize the piano. However, if I go to the browser and type the IP address of the piano, the phone will pull up the control. The software that comes with iPhone will not recognize the piano. Don’t try to call their helpdesk. They are about useless. Lotta money to spend for such poor service.

Awful software
I spent over $40k on a Yamaha piano and this software could have been written better by a two year old. It doesn't work. Yamaha should hire apple to make some decent software. They obviously don't have a clue.
Even the simplest functions like copying a song to the hard drive don't work. Very, very, very disappointed.

Does not consistently work
I had the en-suite system installed in February 2023. It has stopped working for me 3 times often with gaps up to a month before salesman can make it here to figure it out. Most recently I tried to install a recommended update and it’s totally frozen so I cancelled my disclavier radio/tv. It’s wonderful when it works but extremely frustrating when it stops working. It could be wonderful if it consistently worked. No one can help you over the phone because it’s so complicated and it takes forever to get someone here to fix it and I’ve only had it 7 months!! It’s not working more than it works!!

Fussy App - That works!
This is a quirky app, but it does what is supposed to…. With a lot of tinkering. The wifi vs Ethernet is an issue. The wifi can be hit or miss sometimes, so I fortunately plugged it in to a Ethernet connection, that was close by. The problem with the Ethernet is that if you get out of the app, it runs through the first song you are playing at quadruple speed. Then the next song starts just fine. This does not happen with the wifi version. However, the wifi version works for a bit, then there are random issues for connecting. So, the Ethernet is the way to go. Yes it works with the TV, yes it is an amazing service, yes I love Yamaha as a brand. However, they should fix their software. Very Gaijin of them to not care.
