Used to be great; Now is terrible.
I used to use the Notes app to remember and keep track of lots of things. Unfortunately, it has become impossible to rely on. For at least a year, the Notes app lags a lot, glitches, and freezes. It is possible that this only happens with larger notes. However, if there is a “character limit” to each note, that would be nice to know. (There’s no character limit started anywhere in Notes. The app just lags when you start trying to type, then it spits out some of the letters you typed, and sometimes those letters appear halfway down the note for some reason, even when you start typing from the top). However, as of this morning, it appears I can no longer use the app. I literally cannot open at least 2 of my important Notes that I use everyday. I’m assuming this has something to do with my iPhone updating itself to the newest iOS overnight. There is no way to print or email myself the note, so that I can easily see and use the information. Also, Apple is hard to get in touch with, as far as customer service goes, regarding an app that comes standard with their iPhones. And Apple has been unresponsive thus far in my attempts to get this Notes debacle resolved. Apple — Please fix the Notes app ASAP, and please don’t push updates that break the app. Thanks.

Recovered Lost “Notes”
I just recently lost several writings, thoughts, etc I had placed in the NOTES app. About six months ago my email was discovered on the dark web. I followed instructions as recommended I thought, changed passwords many times, created new email and changed browsers. The problem is I am not able to work on the computer frequently, and with all the changes things got screwed up. Eventually, Microsoft locked my account and I could not synchronize devices. My subscription was purchased with an earlier email, which was also changing. I requested support assistance via Microsoft’s website, but when I got a suspicious telephone call from a person claiming to be a Microsoft technician and I watched what he was doing, I knew I had made a mistake. Today, I contacted Apple Support, scheduled a call back time and like voila the call came as requested. The technician I spoke with was absolutely amazing! She led me with step by step instructions, slowly telling me what to do. More importantly, patiently wait for me to follow her directions. In a very short time, my information was recovered, visible again on my iPad as they had been for years. I wish I could use her name, to personally say again how grateful I am because SHE restored my faith in people. Wish you all the best life has to offer…my guardian angel! Thank You. Joe

Lost all my notes for this year
I checked notes today and ALL of my notes were gone. I looked it up to fix it and someone said to set my default account to “on my iPhone” in notes. It was already set to that so I clicked it off and then reset it again to “on my iPhone.” I check notes and it gave me back 99 notes. It kept all of my notes that were created first but all of my most recent notes including all of my notes from 2024 are gone. It’s just all gone. I had very important information in those notes because I trusted Apple to keep my notes secure. I guess they just delete them if it can’t fit in their iCloud. Funny thing is that I had all my notes on “on my iPhone” and not on iCloud. Then when it gave me back my notes, all of those notes were regained on iCloud. I can’t even move my notes from iCloud to “on my iPhone for some reason. The other notes are just grayed out. I’m so upset with this situation. I have can’t believe this actually happened. Why? Why did it just randomly remove my notes? I never logged out of any of my accounts or emails or even messed with them. None of my accounts require a re-sign in or anything. Apple, please help me with this situation. It’s November 2024 right now and literally all of my notes from 2024 are gone!

Problem w notes getting stuck on Folders -
I have loved using Notes - and use it as a way to store information for handy retrieval. However the app seems to have a glitch at the moment - I can no longer access the information that I have stored there (schedule of carers for my mother, phone numbers for carers etc) as when I open the app it shows me a title Folders- and there is no way to get back to the usual front page. Even when I search Folders for a Folder that I know I made, the search turns up nothing and I am stuck on that page. I googled it and it seems to be a problem that other have had- and turning the phone off and on again has not fixed it. I don't want to delete the app and reinstall as I will lose all that info. What to do?

Notes disappeared
All my notes are gone from my phone. I notified this morning. The only thing I did differently was accepting the new Terms and Conditions to use iCloud, which I did yesterday night. I didn’t see any statement issued by Apple. This is a lack of respect to customers! Are you fixing it? When?????
Lost notes reappeared!
I had a similar thing happen today that another person has also mentioned. I Accepted new terms and conditions on my phone for the iCloud and then ALL my notes in the app vanished! Years worth of notes. Logged in on my laptop and they are there thankfully.. Incase anyone else is having this issue I contacted Apple (link found online) and they advised to go to settings, click in Apple ID/cloud where your photo is, iCloud then apps using iCloud. Find notes and switch toggle off. A message come up to say notes will be deleted and press cancel so it switches back on, try and see if notes have returned in the app. If not switch the phone off and recheck again. Mine still weren’t there but after about 45 mins they synched and have returned. Apple were going to do a call back for me if that didn’t work so contact them if it doesn’t work for you

Important Notes Disappeared
A week ago all my notes had disappeared, I didn’t delete them, it was in my “on your iPhone” folder and now there absolutely nothing in there. I had soo many priceless things in there, and now I’ve lost everything. I really wish there is a way to bring them back, I’ve searched about this issue online and it has happened to quite a few people, but no one seems to have found a solution to it. I hope Apple fixes this issue before it happens to more people. I know this ain’t that deep, but it still hurts knowing that I’ve lost valuable letters that where within notes. 😢🥺

Very upset
I have used this app as my primary writing app since I got my first iPhone in 2018. I had hundreds of notes saved onto my phone including ones I used regularly for creative writing. Today I logged into iCloud on safari to look for something that had been saved to my photos, and a couple hours later I get a notification from my settings prompting me to accept new terms and conditions to use iCloud on my phone. I return to the notes app after completing this, which I had been typing in just before I accepted the terms, and find that everything has been erased. I have lost six years worth of notes from my phone, and my only way of accessing them all is by going onto my iPad or logging into the iCloud. What’s worse, is that there is a delay in the sync between my phone and iPad in terms of iCloud saving my notes, so I have permanently lost a weeks worth of creative writing I had been working on. I am beyond upset as it had taken me days to write what I have now lost, and now I have to rewrite what I can remember and start the process all over again. There is no way to go back and return what I still have onto my notes app on my phone either. Very disappointed.

When is this going to be compatible with IOS18
I loved this app totally and completely, until IOS18. but since then this app that would accommodate my daily ramblings, reminder lists, details of events to back up my memories, and facts of what happened when ( eg. wether I paid cash for the chimney sweep or am I waiting for an invoice) were recorded. This app doesn’t always show these files, it does not like large files, it freezes, I have to put a search to find some files as it does not show in the folders until I have searched for it, then I click on it and it freezes yet again. Some of these files I have saved only locally and not to icloud, I do not have the option of finding them there. Customer service tell me that they are working on it . . . . . but cannot give me any indication of a timescale which implies to me that something was totally overlooked in the developers excitement of introducing all the new enhancements and promising AI soon . Please update notes URGENTLY. Sorry for rant, but I used to rant to myself on notes and can’t do it at the moment (Oct/Nov 2024)
