Not ready for prime time
You can make the ellipse lock work well enough despite the frustrations with its app connection. Proximity detection does not work very well. If you open the app to unlock the bike it's going to search forever before it connects. You'll feel pretty stupid standing there long after your friends unlocked the old fashioned way.

Finally! Oh wait...
I finally received my ellipse after two years and it refuses to sync to my phone. I'm hoping this is a software issue with the app and not the device 🤞I have already used the suggestions on their website. No luck. I've also restarted the phone and reinstalled the device. I'm still looking forward to using this lock and I will update this review once my experience changes.
**Update**
After working with Tech Support we we were able to discern that the iPhone 5S is the only device that is currently being affected by this issue. I was told that the next update will fix this. It's been almost a month Lattis. What's the deal? Getting sick of having a solar powered paper weight.

Hi, Since last May we have release multiple updates of the Ellipse app. Please let us know how we are doing and if you still experience the same issue
Great Lock
Works really well, has a user friendly interface, and the lock is nice and portable!
Great app but could use a few tweaks
Adding force touch shortcuts for lock and unlock would be awesome. Also I keep my bike inside so if I want to use proximity settings it keeps locking unlocking as I move around my place. Some way to adjust that if possible would be awesome and to set the auto unlock distance.

Horrible
Paid for this vaporware over two years ago and have not received anything other than false promises. Delivery date has been changed more than 20 times. I lost a bike when waiting for my lock to ship.
