  • Super satisfied, I love it.

I’ve been working with this app for a couple months now, and I can say I am very satisfied with it. I’m able to complete small projects for work on my iPad, the convenience it provides is amazing. Customer service is also provided in a timely, polite fashion. I only have one complaint — since the R 4.0 upgrade, it takes a bit longer for packages to download than before. I used to be able to download packages within minutes (even seconds) but now there’s more of a wait time. So I recommend downloading all the packages you’ll need beforehand. However, even with that said, I still feel as though this deserves a solid 5 stars. It truly is a wonderful app.

Hello Kiarra, Please do not worry. If you have purchased the one-time offer, you are not required to subscribe. Simply select ‘Restore Purchases’. We have added a subscription option since the release of R 4.0 as it is becoming extremely expensive for us to maintain all the packages for all the versions. So in your case, you won’t be charged again at all.
  • R on iOS Great

I’ve just started toying around with this and find it to be a great app.

    I would like to suggest

On the “File” menu I’d like to suggest
    - Add common File actions like “New”, “Save”, and “Save As...”. I know for “New” equivalent it’s possible to go to Open and create a file there but that requires multiple steps where on a normal application its a single step.

On the package area, I’d also like to suggest
    - some sort of “filter” of existing packages to allow the user to find if a given package has already installed
    - click on the package and get the info for the package.
    - not sure how to determine if latest package is installed or not

    Other Miscellaneous item
I find the short cut key to clear on input and source area, not sure how to clear he “Output” area

  • No ads please

Not too fond of the ads. Where is the paid version ?

    Developer Response

Kindly go to Settings and select Upgrade.
  • Ok but needs work

One feature that would help is a live preview of a plot, split view etc
  • Great app, great support!

This app is ideal for using R in an iPad.

I had one gripe with it - I couldn’t access the files I created within the app using the iOS “Files” app. I reported this to the developer and within 24 hours this was added and a new release rolled out on the App Store! Excellent customer service!

I highly recommend this app to anyone looking to use R on their iPad.

  • ICloud Drive Limited

Seems to function nicely in the few R models I’ve tried.

The big problem is with ICloud integration. I assumed that I would be able to open, edit, run, save files anywhere on the ICloud Drive. Instead, the app seems to be limited to only the ‘R Compiler’ directory.

Pretty sure that browsing throughout ICloud Drive is possible. Plenty of other apps are able to do it.

    *** UPDATE ***

I understand that it’s a trade-off with auto-save, but I would rather have full access to all of my ICloud Drive.

    Developer Response

Hello! Thank you for your feedback! This app has an auto-save feature that needs a dedicated folder to update files in the background. It is not possible to auto save in other iCloud locations without the user interaction.
  • Pretty solid

It’s a pretty nice app for small data sets, and has decent data crunching ability, however I cannot seem to be able to import large data sets into the app. I would also like to see some improvements build for iPad os.
  • Outstanding app

Developer is very helpful/responsive and app works beautifully! I've been using S+/R for 25 years and this lets me do 80-90% of what I need to do on the ipad. Thank you!

    Developer Response

You are welcome! We are more than happy that this app meets your needs!
  • Helpful but limited with large data sets

It’s super helpful to have an iOS implementation of R, and this app has been designed well with the OS in mind, but I find that it continually crashes when I try to import files to process in R. I am hopeful that this is a temporary glitch and not an ongoing issue, as I feel that aside from this one (but significant) problem, this app could solve all sorts of issues when it comes to working with data while in transit.

Edit: developer was able to help me solve my issues, and it is now working fine for me. It would be helpful if the app could notify you of files that are too large to open on the device and suggest alternative ways to open them rather than just having the device crash.

Thank you for your review. Does the crash happen for specific files? Are the files on your device or iCloud?Could you please send those files to info@kappsmart.com so that we may investigate.
  • Can’t import code

I can’t even import code to the app. Useless.
