Description of WideProtect Spam Call Blocker

Forget about unwanted calls and spammers spoofing tricks. No registration, no user data collected. Now there are two ways to add new prefix: 1) quick one - open incoming call in Phone app, tap on action "Share Contact", then tap on action "Block in WideProtect" and then remove several last digits of phone number; 2) classic one - in the application, tap on "+" button, choose Country and check if phone number length is correct, then type several digits of phone number to block. The latest version supports blocking up to 120,000,000 phone numbers - whole 12 area codes in the USA! WideProtect is free to download. A subscription is required to use the application, but you can try it out completely free for 3-7 days (depends on subscription plan). WideProtect was mentioned on: - Mac Geek Gab Podcast (https://www.macobserver.com/show/mac-geek-gab) - LifeHacker (https://lifehacker.com) - Beebom (https://beebom.com/how-to-block-spam-calls-a-complete-guide/) Don't forget to give permissions to block numbers to all 60 WideProtect extensions through iPhone Settings: Phone: Call Blocking & Identification. The app requires iPhone 6s and higher, iOS 15 and higher. Use Help tab to see details about how the app works and watch video instruction, and please write email to me (vandrusik@gmail.com) in case of some troubles or questions. Thank you all! IMPORTANT NOTICES: - Do not remove the app from iPhone memory while it's updating blocking list - but you can do it after updating. - Blocked calls may be forwarded to voicemail, as it works on mobile operator side (contact your mobile operator for details). - If you use 'Do Not Disturb' mode, blocked calls may appear silently on Home screen and in Recently list - to avoid it disable DND mode. - Sometimes iOS does not display WideProtect extensions in iPhone Settings immediately - in this case just add needed prefix to the app, then wait for 1-2 minutes, and then go to iPhone Settings. - WideProtect functionality is available via auto-renewable subscription for $0.99 per month or $9.99 per year. Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase, subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period, account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal, subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase. - you can read Terms of Use (EULA) here: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Reviews of WideProtect Spam Call Blocker

  • Something's broken

UPDATE: GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Giving 5 stars, again. The developer contacted me and fixed the issue within one day. I love this app, again! Went from receiving at least 30 spam calls per day to maybe 1! It worked great for awhile. Now, when I try to update my blocked list it just keeps "working" for about 10 minutes with a screen message stating "Block list is being updated...1 of 25...". I turned off all lists except 1 and 2, but it keeps saying I'm updating 25. Then, it stops and I get a pop-up starting "Error Please give WideProtect permission to block numbers through iPhone Settings: Phone: Call Blocking & Identification.". I allowed that access since I purchased this app! So, it's no longer working and needs to be fixed.

UPDATE: Thank you very much for review! Hello, could you provide me via email (support@v-and.com): 1) screenshot of WideProtect app to see what prefixes you have added; 2) screenshot of 'iPhone Settings: Phone: Call Blocking & Identification' to see that all  WideProtect extensions are enabled; Thank you !
  • Had for years, blocks all my fake cloned inbound calls

Well worth a few dollars, has been blocking my suspicious calls with same first 6-digits for years. An add-on is required for SMS blocking, I don’t have too big an issue with SMS spam but will buy it if I do.

For those saying it doesn’t work anymore, make sure you enable the different versions in your phone settings under call blocking. Apple is making you explicitly allow 3Party apps like this for them to work.

Thank you very much for the review, and using the app for years!
  • Thank you, total lifesaver

I never rate apps, but this one deserves it. I was getting several spoofed calls a day from area codes that are in the state my phone number is from despite using other apps, like ATT’s CallProtect, which only sort of slowed down the deluge. This app stopped them - I was able to look up the area codes from that state and selectively block almost every number not in my contact list, while leaving the phone numbers from everywhere else in the US alone. I needed this feature because I do get a lot of legitimate calls from area codes in other parts of the US, e.g., the state I live in now, and blocking everyone not in my contact list isn’t feasible. This probably isn’t the solution for people who get a lot of legitimate calls from their own and nearby area codes, unfortunately, but it’s made a huge difference to me. Thank you!

    Developer Response

Thank you very much for your review, I am happy that the app is helping you!
