This has been a upgrade worth making! My audio quality has improved more then I had imagined. I use one mic for background noise and the other for my video presenter. The mix is just awesome. The control is quite easy and the size allows for placement in places a larger mic would be less concealable. I make cooking videos and capturing the sounds of cooking is an essential part of my production. Thanks to my Sweetwater rep (Jason) for recommending this choice over the other. Stereo audio! With no wind noise, using the MV88 and a wind muff.
Just about every video I try to record with the standard video app is ruined by wind noise. It’s so frustrating!
I keep saying “what is the point of recording audio if it isn’t stereo!” Having an app dedicated to recording video with the MV88 is great. I like having the additional gain and EQ controls.
The only snag is that when recording normal horizontal video the mic orientation is up/down, unless you use a short Lightning cable to remount the mic back to the normal left/right orientation.
The next most important feature in a video app is setting the correct white balance, using a white balance card to measure the actual colour of the light in the scene and lock white balance. That’s always my first step when opening a video app or on an actual video camera.
