Taylor

I just bought my first guitar. Ordered on line. And there was an issue. I called the number provided and issue was immediately handled by a professional. The guitar arrived at the local shop in Tyler Texas, where the friendly knowledgeable staff unpacked and examined the instrument. They answered my question about the guitar and what type strings would be needed when the time came. They assured me the strings on it were nearly new, and shoul not need any attention anytime soon.
So far I am pleased with the entire experience

Welcome to the dark ages

For one, I really like Guitar Center (the stores) and I have been going there for years. In multiple states even. Also for years; I’ve been complaining about the lack of online detail such as weight of an Amp., minimal technical photo angles etc. Used listings are misrepresented and have “terrible” photos. The App does function, but it lacks the “in store” shopping experience which will limit their online market share. 9 out of 10 times I go to Reverb, Sweetwater etc. to satisfy what the GC App lacks, then purchase there. I really do want GC stores to stay around, but without a decent online working experience, I’m not so confident they’ll have the staying power. PS. I’m a prolific shopper and gave 2 stars because I didn’t have the heart to leave just one.

The worst app I’ve ever used to shop for musical supplies.

Guitar center is perhaps the biggest name in retail when it comes to music related items. I had a little time before work today, in which I spent the last 45 minutes trying to purchase an order with a gift card and this absolute trash of an app has bugged out in several different infuriating ways. I can’t appropriately describe my frustration at the moment, due to these items being essential to a production and the order being time sensitive. Simple things like saving addresses and payment info pages are crashing, my cart emptied itself of all my saved items, endless loading screens, a buggy AI that was zero help when it comes to customer service, etc.

I will never shop through guitar center again and intend on switching to a different store.

Inbox Bug

I only rate this app as a four because there appears to be some kind of bug in the “More” section that says I have 4 messages in my inbox. This is whether I am signed in or not. When you go to the inbox there is nothing there and then the app crashes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app numerous times, rebooted my phone numerous times, reported this to GC customer service numerous times, said 10 Our Fathers, 10 Hail Mary’s, did 20 pushups, 20 sit ups, 25 jumping jacks, ran 5 circles around my truck at a red light & clicked my heels three times. Yet GC customer service can’t seem to figure out how to fix this issue or at the very least route it to the correct department. Other than that the app is great. I’ve placed numerous orders with no issues and fast shipping.

Buggy trash

Rarely updated used gear, wont save wishlist items, wont save cart items, products alerts don’t work and are deleted seconds after setting them…. The list goes on and on. I don’t shop at Guitarcenter as much anymore but I still like to know what the local ones near me have for their used stuff just to check out cool items but they make it so hard to want to buy from them, especially when the app is this bad.

It’s been this way for years and they have not made any improvements to any of my listed problems since I installed it. I know this review won’t help but I thought it was about time to leave my thoughts on this somewhere.

Ahhh

It’s a pretty good app instead of going on the safari or google page every time but if your looking for a specific item you can just go to results I think and set to your preferences and your price range to not go over or below price range

Bad UI

To be fair, I haven’t gone too deep into the app. The only thing I’ve used it for so far is to purchase a guitar after having already added it to the wishlist on the web page. But for some reason putting in my shipping and credit card details was an absolute chore. But now that it’s all figured out and the app has (hopefully) saved my info, I might give it 4 stars in the future if I use the app more

Pain To Deal With

The app is just painful to deal with. Too many bugs and glitches from item alerts refusing to save unless you delete the app, saved searches not working, routing you to the login page whenever you want to add an item to the wishlist when you’re already logged in, then not being taken back to said item’s page so you have to scroll all the way down just to find it again, etc. These are just the complaints I can remember off the top of my head. I only complain because I appreciate this company’s services and wish their app was better and easier to navigate so I can do business with this company.

Adding items to cart not working

I have nothing against Guitar Center or the app, this is more of a cry for help. I’m trying to purchase a set of bass strings and when I add to cart it says “added to cart” but when you click on the cart icon nothing is there and it tells you “cart empty continue shopping” even after adding the strings like 5 times and refreshing or restarting the app, obviously just a bug that needs to be fixed asap! Other than that love guitar center!

Constantly logs out/setting store fails

This trash app constantly logs out. Steps: Log in; go through the product tree to find what you want based on the store you chose as your home. Look at store for that product; and in my case it shows the store I didn’t pick rather than the other two in the metro. Ok, click that to swap stores, changes back to the store I didn’t want. Wash, rinse, repeat. Then I try to save it in a list, and it goes through the log in dance again and kicks me out of that product I went through the trouble of selecting and I’m back on the main page. Garbage.
