Why
Response from developer
Hello. When using the on-device OCR to recognize printed text, please make sure you have downloaded the correct OCR language and that this language is visible in the upper right corner when shooting. You can also test the Cloud OCR (free trial available in the app) which is often more accurate. In addition, feel free to send us a sample image at support@creaceed.com so that we can take a look at it and give you some tips. /TC
Handwriting OCR is inadequate
So helpful
Response from developer
Great to read! Thank you for your kind words. /TC
Pretty good for the basic options.
Some tips for the more complex options (premium package):
-translator function can be inaccurate.
-handwriting to text cannot work for most organic handwritings (i'm not sure about cursive though)
Response from developer
Hello. Handwriting recognition from an image (off-line recognition, as opposed to on-line, where the full path and timing data are available) is a very hard problem that was mostly non-working until recent advances in machine learning. The technology to process handwriting is improving rapidly, and we opted to offer it as soon as possible, even though it’s really just the beginning, as it can help in certain situations. Also, you can go to Prizmo Go's FAQ section here where we have given some tips on how to improve handwriting recognition: https://creaceed.com/prizmogo/faq Regarding your issue with the recognition of printed text, you can also try the Cloud OCR (free trial available within the app) which is usually more accurate. Although the recognition of embellished first letters remains difficult for an OCR engine. /TC

Hello. Please feel free to reach out to our support service (support@creaceed.com) should you have any questions on how to correctly use Prizmo Go. Feedback is also appreciated. /TC
Can’t live without this!
This works beautifully with automation and scripting - scan printed text directly into Drafts! - and is utterly essential if you are taking quotes from the printed page. It works incredibly well for this, which is how I mostly use it, I barely launch the application directly any more.
Developers are a great bunch too, attentive and quick to implement good suggestions and take on feedback.
I cannot recommend this enough. I’ve shown people what this does, and they usually instantly buy it, or start trying to work out how to get an iPhone.

Excellent for the price & great customer service
Developer response to this complaint is to direct users to their desktop product which ignores that modern mobile devices can easy handle such processing. But I get it, they need business.
Original review:
I have used this app to scan English, German, and Arabic text with good results. However, to get these good results I had to use the cloud OCR service. Still the cost for that was reasonable. I have scanned entire books (small books), but I admit it can get a little tedious. You have to get set up with good lighting, and use (what seemed to me) a hidden feature: After taking the photo and giving it a chance to scan, you have to long-press the "share" button in order to bring up a menu saying "Share whole text" which does a better job to retain formatting. I learned this because I wrote the authors twice and each time received timely and helpful feedback. Even with the above approach, there still was a lot of formatting needed to get the perfect result. But OCR has come a long way, and it's really nice to be able to do it using my phone.

Not a sensible translation but a mechanical process
Response from developer
Hello. Machine translation can be unequal depending on contents and on languages (source and target). It is not as efficient as human-based translations even though it is evolving rapidly. Despite its limitations, it can be a valuable tool, especially if you’re abroad and don’t know the language at all. And you’re right, keeping critical reading about the translated text remains essential. /TC
