One of the best coloring apps out there!!!
I am not joking when I say how good Lake is! Sure it has a one tiny glitch but I love it! So you might be wondering what is this glitch? Well, let me tell you, so in this app you get a digital coloring journal. With that journal you choose how your feeling by an emoji and then you choose the word representing on how your feeling, it creates a special color palette. This is great! If only I could use it to color the picture I choose! For me when I try to use the color and I start coloring it switches back to the last color I was using in another coloring page. Nothing I do will fix it. But it doesn’t bug me to much since I don’t like to use the journal as much but if other people have this glitch it could really annoy them. But overall this is amazing I love how you can blend colors and how there is so many colors to choose from! If I could get the Premium version I would, but I can’t at the time! This is a wonderful app. I really, REALLY love coloring the beautiful artwork produced by amazing and unique creators, however I have only been able to color 5-6 drawings. I believe you should add more drawings that don't have the Premium lock. Dont get me wrong, your pricing for premium is extremely reasonable, and I would 100% consider getting a subscription, but maybe open up more drawing pages for those who maybe dont have the funds for an online subscription. Great App, Just Needs A Few More Features To Be Perfect
I really enjoy my time with Lake - enough so that I bought the year subscription. While I don’t regret it, I do wish that there were a few more features, and I probably won’t renew the subscription unless they get added before then.
An eye dropper tool feels like an obvious choice. The brief colour history is handy, but when you’re revisiting a section that you painted much earlier, it isn’t useful anymore, and you’ll spend some time trying to find the colour you used by trial and error. It’s something that was annoying but manageable with just the one free palette, but it became a bit of a headache once I subscribed and had three to toggle between.
Other than that, other brush types and opacity options, as well as custom colour palettes would be really appreciated.Show lesstwistthebones

I purchased a year of Lake because it was slightly less expensive than another popular coloring app. I wish I would have just paid for the other one. My complaints can be summed up in one word: underwhelming. There are not enough colors. You can only pick colors from a preset series of palettes. There are not enough brushes. You can pick from two brush types, a fill setting, and a spray setting. There are no blenders. There is not enough variety in artwork. The artists seem to have similar styles. It’s hard to navigate within an artists’ works. If I like an illustration and want to see more from that artist, I have to navigate back to the art menu. I can’t search for their name. The app itself works well. It looks polished and artsy. But for someone who truly wants to create art, seek another app.Show lessKelkel927
Excellent Overall But Still Has Room To Grow
I love this app!! I found it when the pandemic started and have been using it on and off. It’s really polished, and I love the selection. I do think there’s more I wish the app could do. For one, as other have brought up, I’d really love more brushes or ways to control color/save colors. I don’t have much art experience at all, so this may be a skill problem, not a tools problem, but once I started experimenting, I hit certain limits to the tools provided. I would love the ability to blend more. I also feel that even more control over brush sizing could be nice.(Also - maybe adding glitter or more metallic colors of some sort? Not a tool, but.) I also think it would be neat to see other peoples creations for inspiration in something like a shared gallery, or a tips and tricks section with some coloring tutorials. Lake has been an excellent way for me to open the door into doing more art in my life and I’m excited to see if they expand more on what they provide. Either way, it’s a great app! :)Show less6284752

Thank you for your detailed review. With some practice, you will notice that our tools allow you to achieve many interesting effects, like shading, gradients, textures and more. You can also follow us on social media to see what other users are doing to get inspiration and see how far you can go with our tools. And you can always write to us in case you have questions. We are always available! :-) On top of that, I would like to tell you we do plan to add more brushes and tools. Right now they are in the early development stage and I can't say when they should be released. Every new feature takes a while to be designed, developed, and tested to perfection so we can meet our users' expectations.Worth it
So much I love about the app, from real stroke coloring instead of tap, the daily mood journaling, the sound effects and vibrations, pages by category , to the color pallets based on mood.
Honestly, I’m picky with my creating and this app is a win for me !
Suggest adding more types of mood options to the list and of course more coloring pages.
Maybe in the future a spot for sharing your version of the page you colored. I’d love to see how others choose to color the same page as I did. ! Would love to be a part of the team in designing or helping grow this app. I’ve already joined the Facebook group ❤️Show lesssara carol morrow
Feels like it’s still missing something
I got Lake again recently after leaving it a year or so ago. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of new artists and the journal feature. It made coming back feel worth it.
But there are still some things that I feel are missing, and I had these same suggestions from before.
One is I feel like this app would greatly, greatly benefit from a skin tone palette. Actually, just more palettes in general, but definitely a skin tone one. You can achieve a decent amount of colors if you “mix”, but it’d be nice to have some new and premade colors. (Especially darker skin tones!)
And the second thing is I feel like the coloring tools are still pretty basic, especially for an app you pay a subscription for. I’ve had free coloring apps with more brush types and even stamps. It’d be nice to get some new tools!
All and all, love the app, can’t wait for updates and more artists.Show lessParidoxpower

We can’t say right now when it will be released but it be worth the wait! As to brushes, the idea is to keep Lake simple yet powerful. With 5 tools, you are able to create many effects and achieve very cool looks. I did unwind while drawing (in the first 3 minutes) Variety of brushes, sizes, colors, and drawings Line guide can be turned off/on Lets you type it out and identity how you feel Color variety (shades, tints, set rainbow, plus given palette) Pretty easy to figure out, didn’t take long AT ALL No internet needed Airplane mode compatible
👎Cons:
Crashes,,,like every 5 minutes of usage 🤨 This would make me lose a range of progress per drawing, the most I lost was the same 1/4th or even half, in 5 different time periods. Nothing running in the background either. Would lead to a frustrating experience, uninstalled like 12 hours into having it in my phone because of this 😩 The brushes are honestly a little too odd for me, I stuck with the fill in tool The fill in tool can ignore some lines??? Like huh? One journal entry per day 3 extra drawings per day (I think, I didn't keep it long enough)
📔Journal: Around 5 faces you can choose (sad to happy) Adjectives for why you feel this way, no max 2 drawings you can choose only 1 Color palette given to you You do not have to follow said palette When finished, it lets you look back at your older entries It also lets you type out whatever you want in an entry You can go back and edit what you typed and colored, but not what drawing, the adjectives, and smily faceShow lessIronpixal07

I have had this app for a while and I wanted to tell everyone how amazing it is! I love to create all kinds of art, however sometimes my mental health makes it hard to get out of bed and pick up a pencil or a paintbrush. This app is truly amazing. I am able to color from a variety of beautiful and unique art. All of the artist on this app are amazing!
There is a premium on the app, but the developers understand not everyone can afford that, (me lol) so they offer so so so many free options on the app! There is a holiday event with free drawings everyday and it is very fun to go in and see what you can unwrap!
There is also a journal aspect to the app, it is another way to be creative when I don’t feel creative. The journal takes you mood and creates and color pallet (suggestion) for you to use!
I love this app and I am so proud of all the developers and artist! That was a lot, but this is a 10/10 app:)Show lessUnknown5801

Lake has always been my favorite coloring app and although I use it off and on, I've been using it for years. I love the variety of templates and I love the simple coloring interface. I just recently started using it again after a long hiatus and was very pleasantly surprised with the new (to me) journaling feature! However, another new feature since the last time I used Lake is all the crashing. :( It happened to me several times while I was trying to organize the art in my studio. It happened a few more times while I was browsing new templates to unlock. Finally and most frustratingly, it crashed when I clicked "done" after finishing a coloring page. When I opened the app again, all my work was gone. I was so frustrated I don't even want to open it again to start over.
I read a few other recent reviews of this app that also mention all the crashing. Please please PLEASE fix this issue. I love Lake and was even hoping to subscribe with your Black Friday deal now that I'm using it again. But with all of these issues it's definitely not worth it, and sadly the app is unusable.Show lessDesserose
