  • Crosswords with Friends is OK, not great

    When are you going to fix COMEDY CLUB VOLUME 4? The download always fails1

    While I enjoy solving the puzzles, the app has 3 significant problems : 1) WAY too many puzzles use the same words to answer very similar clues. I've only been playing about 2 weeks (and <60 puzzles) and I've encountered numerous use of "era," to give just one example. It gets old... 2) The mechanics of navigating the puzzles are clumsy at best. A special problem is having to repeat a filled in letter in order to jump to a new one. You find yourself having to constantly check where the 'live' cell is. Else you wind up losing lots of time with corrections. 3). The game is too intimately tied to Facebook. I don't have a Facebook account and don't want one. I accidentally clicked on a notice that a friend had made a WWF play, and only then discovered I am 'attached' to my wife's Facebook account, with no way to alter the registration. The game thinks I'm her, and tells the player about whom I was notified that I'm my wife. It's ridiculous! WWF does not have that problem. Therefore, 3 stars at best because the above items deserve less.

  • Been playing for years

    This game was my favorite but now not so much. It’s glitchy and when I contact customer service all they do is send me links to try these things. Then I have to uninstall and reinstall and I then lose puzzles I’ve finished already. This has happened 4 times now and they just send me emails with links. I want all my coins back that I have wasted playing games I’ve already completed. BTW it isn’t my iPad since it BRAND NEW!

    I love this game and I have finished every level. I enjoy the extra games (or bonus games) they add weekly. I wish I had more puzzles to do but I just go back and better my times. A couple issues is even though I play every day and haven’t missed a day in almost 2 years it stopped registering and said I missed a day. I have not. Customer service fixed the issue twice but I don’t know why it keeps happening. I use the same iPad and I am connected to Facebook. I just have to keep track of it. My only other issue is the coins. I pay for the coins bc the free coins are never enough. It gets to be a lot but I love playing so I do it.

  • Love this game BUT

    I love playing this game. Been playing it for years. But recently to play I have to view an add after every play and for a time period for one of them I had to sign out of my device to continue play. I’d prefer an option to pay for a subscription if I could avoid the ads. If not available, perhaps the ads could be spread out between two to three plays. I bought an ad blocker which Apple advised wouldn’t work (and it didn’t)because ads are built into app. I understand the developers need to make a profit but hope a compromise can accommodate their need without interfering with play by introducing an ad after every game.

    Within minutes after I posted this review, I got an answer 😂The problem of not being able to close out an ad returned. I watched the ad but when the circled X appeared, the app was unresponsive and wouldn't respond to my attempts to X out of it. I had to sign out to resume play. Sorry that happens as I said I love playing this game. It offers three versions of the crossword experience which others don’t but it appears my feedback isn’t welcomed.
