  • Was going well until ...

I was enthralled by this game, the artwork is superb and was hooked, then it got into a loop which I cannot get out of despite rebooting. The poor old man is stuck in that lorry and is going round and round. If it had not been for this hiccup and the rather intrusive background music (have turned the volume down) then I would have given it 5 stars. I hope an update is on the way to solve this problem as I will really like to reach the end of the journey.

Are you stuck at the end of level 13, when the old man sits on the back of the truck? If yes, then you have to tap the bucket that's next to him on the pile of stuff to continue. If you're stuck somewhere else please contact us at support@brokenrul.es and send a screenshot along. Thanks! Felix
  • A different kind of “game”

I’m a pretty big gamer but this game is of an entirely different breed. It tells a story while you move the landscape enabling him to make his journey. I absolutely loved it but certainly not for everyone. The beautifully simplistic art and soundtrack along with the small interactions really make you feel as though you’re apart of the journey

  • A beautiful game

On par with the game Brothers, it tells an old man’s story with no dialogue or tutorial. I almost quit playing because the first couple minutes didn’t hook me in, but I was so glad I gave it another chance.

This is a game that would definitely appeal to an older (30+) fanbase. Younger gamers might not like the slow pace that emphasizes plot and scenery.

  • Overpriced Unfulfilling Copy of Monument Valley

Wow?! $5 for this? Do not buy.

I purchased based on the awards. Very bad decision. Total game play is maybe an hour and it’s only because the old man walks slow. (Not that I have anything against old men or walking slow.) I envisioned puzzles or something thought provoking. Nothing, just beautiful pictures and redundancy.
This game was clearly inspired by the novel and intriguing game Monument Valley. However that game includes story and thoughtful challenges. The Old Man includes no real challenge. Once you learn to click and move a hill it’s just work. No fun.

  • Very hard to review the 'Old Man's Journey'

Ugh, such a wonderful and annoying game at the same time.

    Graphics - 10/10
    Music - 10/10

^ I say so because they match the vibe of the game perfectly. Nostalgia all the way through, wonderful experience.

The gameplay itself is interesting and innovative. However, it can get pretty boring very quickly. I can't figure out if it's because you are required to have a lot of patience or it is because the gameplay itself is actually repetitive. As someone previously said, Old Man's Journey is more of an experience rather than game. Move some hills, click to walk the character and boom, that's it.

Artwork is beautiful. The game has only crushed once and otherwise runs very smooth on my iPhone 6.

The game has left me feeling a bit ugh. Although the concept is original, I was left unsatisfied after finishing the game.

    Overall - 6/10

Can't wait for some new games from these people though. They have created something special and I believe that new games (hopefully more to come) will be a little bit more entertaining. :-)

  • Calming and heartwarming

Some people may say this game is dull or boring, but for me personally it is incredibly calming. The art and the music are beautiful, making it a true escape from reality (plus few games in the App Store can compare to this quality of art!) Besides, the story is so endearing and heartwarming! Makes you really think about what’s important in life.
I normally play Monument Valley when I need to kill time but I think this will be my new go to.

  • Eyegasm

Playing on my iPad with the brightness maxed just put a grin on my ugly mug the whole time I played. I truly enjoyed this, it is part game, part story, and part gorgeous colorful art all of which kept me engaged. I hope to see more chapters added, thank you for such a different relaxing experience. Fantastic job on the visuals, it just sucked me in like a canvas come to life. So original and a true work of art with warmth.

  • Stunning, restful game

This is a simply wonderful experience; I say "experience" rather than "game" because it really is like being immersed into a story.

The basic concept is that you guide an old man through a journey full of memories, moving him from scene to scene by manipulating the landscape. Some reviewers have complained that there are no instructions and have given poor reviews as a result. These reviewers are imbeciles. A five-year-old could figure out how to play this game. Anyway, it's fun to figure things out for yourself!

Filled with the most gorgeous graphics and restful gameplay, this is something you absolutely should not miss. I'll basically be buying everything that this game developer makes from now on!

  • Exceptional.

I believe the pricing is fair and the experience was all-round breathtaking. I was immersed into this heart full story without words. 💕
  • Tugs at your heart strings.

Beautiful story about love, loss and redemption. This story unfolds in a series of vignettes scattered throughout the game. There is no pressure, no time limits - just beautiful, whimsical landscapes to travel through until you reach journey’s end. The animation is smooth and the soundtrack matches the whimsy perfectly. Don’t rush, take your time and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Lovely, gentle game.
