First time I needed a tow in 14 years
I tried to use the app but Google did not remember my password. I wish there was a way around this as I had to use my radio to call the coast guard to contact BoatUS. I had to provide coast guard with location, boat description and my membership number which I had in my wallet. Would have avoided all this information if my login worked. But all went well tow boat picked me up in 44 minutes. 5 stars to coast guard, marine police and tow boat for keeping in touch with me and coordinating the tow.

Useful by crases too often.
Very useful to get local information.
I do not like that you need to authenticate every time you start the app and on my iPad authentication process crashes every other time.
I would change that so that authentication is only needed when you need to access the BoatUS membership section or when calling for a tow.

GEICO insurance
I was amazed at the outstanding service I received from GEICO on a recent small clam. My prop his something underwater which resulted in a bent prop shaft. GEICO immediately sent an adjuster from 300 miles away. He determined the damage and submitted his report. Within a day the head office called me to see how I wanted the check. All in all the incident happened and within a week it was settled. That’s outstanding customer service

What happened to your customer service?
I have been a member since 1991 and have insured several boats with Boat US Insurance. I have never filed a claim, paid the premiums and have always had good customer service, until you partnered with Geico.
I called to get a quote to insure my wife’s boat and what a horrible experience that was. The person we spoke to was less than forthcoming about what the policy covered. Said we have to accept the policy before we could have the details on coverage. That’s ridiculous, what are you hiding? My wife has Unlimited Gold towing with Boat US already but your agent included towing in the quote saying it was better than Unlimited Gold even after we told him several times we already had towing. He questioned both my wife’s and my ability to handle a boat, that’s unacceptable. Apparently captaining a boat with Boat US insurance for the last 33 years isn’t adequate for Boat US/Geico. Our conclusion is you have no interest in providing insurance for her boat and given that I will be looking elsewhere to insure mine.

Back in the Saddle Again
Due to health problems I had to stop boating for a few years, but now I am back and will resume my passion.
I had been a Boating US tow customer for years and are now anticipating being a customer for many more years.
Great service, professional staff and knowledgeable employees makes this the BEST option on the water.

A friend in need
Heading in from Catalina to Channel Islands Harbor Marina when 10 miles out we loose our port engine, we let Vessel Assist know our situation and would keep them advised. With the fog and a little rough waters there was a little bit of tension onboard , since we were bringing home a new used boat that we weren’t too familiar with it, we were struggling to keep a straight path with one engine when I turned around and noticed we had Vessel Assist behind us to make sure we got home . Randy, the captain was very calming on the radio and led us into the harbor in the fog and then side Tie us and took us to our dock.

Renewed membership
I’ve recently renewed my membership after a few years of not owning a boat and now that I’ve got another boat I couldn’t stand the thought of heading out to sea without this amazing service that BoatUS provides! I’ve had the need of being towed in from the local islands twice and both times the service was outstanding. I’ll never be without this great service 👍🏼

EXCELLENT TOW SERVICE
We had to use this service as our engine overheated and we’re in Bimini Bahamas. Our transition was super smooth with just a phone call. Our tow captain Rick Haden was beyond amazing. He was very thorough, on time and came in on his day off (4th of July) to help us out. He was so professional and accommodating. We had a smooth ride back to Miami. Thank you Captain Rick for making the best out of this situation.

Was taking on water
First I had trouble with my password which has to be entered on the App to request a tow (I’m going to write it ink on my card going forward). Then the first dispatcher I talked to could not understand where I was in the world, then could not find any boats because her system was down. After at least five minutes I asked if I should call coast guard instead and she said she was unable to help me so yes. We were able to pump fast enough to stay ahead of it but when we got to our remote island dock I called again. This dispatcher was competent and the skipper he put me in touch with was incredibly helpful. Then I found out my tow would not be covered because it was a hull issue rather than a breakdown. I certainly understand the service much better now, but still surprised that I wasn’t as covered for any eventuality as I thought I was and the initial dispatcher failure was frustrating. Hopefully it was just unlucky timing.

No follow through
I’ve been a single hull boat insurance customer for several years. Switched to a small non racing catamaran and all of a sudden you would think I am trying to ensure a space ship or a medical device. No one knows anything about anything and after spending hours on the phone trying to get an insurance policy which I thought would be really straightforward. I waited over the weekend for a follow up and no one ever called and now no one answers the phone.
