Description of Teachley Fractions Boost

Teachley Fractions Boost is an exciting 3D racing game that helps children in 3rd-5th grades gain conceptual understanding of fractions while learning how to represent them on a number line. Children race through a futuristic world, driving through number line checkpoints and fraction tunnels. This engaging game, designed by teachers, features built-in lessons and powerful scaffolds to deepen children's knowledge of fractions. Teachley Fractions Boost covers all of 3rd grade fractions standards, including comparison and equivalence of fractions. This app will transform the way children learn and understand fractions! "Teaching number sense is really difficult for elementary school students. Teaching fraction number sense can be even harder. My students frequently would "sneak" playing Fractions Boost, and I would pretend not to notice that they were playing extra rounds." - Nick, 4th grade teacher, VT. "Fractions are often such a difficult concept to teach. I'm so thankful that Teachley has made a game that is equally engaging as it is entertaining!” - Heather Holinger, 4th grade teacher, ME. Fractions Boost is aligned with 3rd grade fractions standards, including: 3.NF.A.1, 3.NF.A.2a, 3.NF.A.3b, 3.NF.A.3c, and 3.NF.A.2b Represent a fraction a/b on a number line diagram by marking off a lengths 1/b from 0. Recognize that the resulting interval has size a/b and that its endpoint locates the number a/b on the number line. 3.NF.A.3d Compare two fractions with the same numerator or the same denominator by reasoning about their size. 3.NF.A.3a Understand two fractions as equivalent (equal) if they are the same size, or the same point on a number line. TEKS - 2.3.A-B, 3.3.A-C, 3.3F-H About Teachley: Teachley is an award-winning edtech company founded by expert teachers with PhDs in cognitive science and funded by the U.S. Department of Education and National Science Foundation. • Please fix the glitch. After few min of play fractions bar stops working

Can’t move the bar to the required fraction after few min of play. Had happened already 10 times. Had to restart the game to fix the problem but it recurs after few exercises again.

  • Six-year-old loves this game

My grandson found a great introduction to fractions while playing this game. The graphics appealed to him. He knew 1/2, but after several fifteen-minute sessions he also understood 1/4 and 1/3. 1/5 stumped him. But he's still playing. Currently this is his favorite iPad game.
