  • Great app, one little issue though.

Alright so I’ve been using this with my raspberry pi and octopi for over a year now. I love octoprint and I love the app except for one little thing. Once I got my second printer and started switching between 2 different printers in the app I noticed that I have to change the camera view options on and off again for the camera orientation to be correct. For example one printer needs the rotate 180degrees and 90 degrees turned on and the other doesn’t. If I change from one printer that has both options off and the picture correct to the other printer (which already has the 180 and 90 degrees set on to make picture correct) the other printers camera will be rotated wrong until I turn the camera settings off and back on again. And then when I go back to the other printer it’s camera will be wrong until I switch the 180 and 90 degree camera options back and forth. It’s not a huge deal since I’m already in the settings tab to switch printers and it only takes a second but it’s still inconvenient and would be nice if it worked right with just changing which printer your on.

Hi, thanks for your review! Sorry that those camera settings aren't working right! They *should* switch between each printer's camera settings automatically—I'll look into fixing that :)
  • Not great for iPads

I picked this up for my iPad that generally runs in landscape mode. Turns out there is no landscape interface for the app. Pretty annoying. Others have also complained and the dev said they’d work on it but that was almost a year ago :(

For a pay app I wish it fully supported iPad Pro.
  • Love this app

I don’t write review often (ever?) but I been printing face shields for Covid non-stop for week now and I I’ve been using this app constantly as I work as it lets me quickly check the status, view the camera, kick off new prints etc. just thought I’d show my love as there are few apps I use more on my phone.

    Developer Response

Wow, thank you for your kind words and thanks especially for printing those face shields! Glad to know the app could be of help in some way, thanks for the review :)
  • Cool dev

I was going to tinker with the free version for a while more but after reading how responsive and nice the dev was to just about every review, especially the bad ones (which look clearly to be user error)I decided to purchase to support.
  • Seems great so far

Just downloaded and is working pretty good so far. Though I have to request that support for landscape mode be put in. I use my iPad in the Smart Keyboard case and therefore is almost always in landscape mode. Supporting this would be really helpful
  • Does Almost Everything I Could Want

It’s only really missing plugin support, but I can understand why that might not be in.

Helps a lot for when I’m just sitting on the couch and want to check on my prints.
  • Nice app

I was using a browser on my tablet to access Octoprint. This app puts most of what I need in one app. Thanks.

Only tweaks I would like to see:
    1) Landscape mode
    2) Ability to show Gcode layers on the same screen as the cam. When I access Octoprint those are the two screens I use most to monitor the progress.

    Developer Response

Hi, thanks for your review! Both those features are in active development, I hope to have them released fairly soon :)
  • Nice app, wrong orientation

It worked well until it didn’t. Biggest hurdle is that it will not reliably reconnect once it detects a closed connection (printer is off, for example). It stopped working on my iPAD PRO (where I paid the fee) and refuses to reconnect. And there is no option to cause it to try reconnection, so it just stares at you with a “Status: not connected” message.

Although I have paid for this app, as mentioned, I get no support from the developer - no response to feedback at all.

How disappointing; this had the makings of a nice app, but I guess the developer has lost interest.

Hi delovelady, thank you for your review! Hopefully you'll allow me to explain why the app doesn't properly support landscape orientations yet. It sucks, and I've been actively working on a solution for a while. Unfortunately auto rotation is not that simple to implement. In fact, where it is simple - in the settings, system and file views, it's already supported. This app was originally designed as a simple iPhone utility, and a portrait-oriented design makes sense for that. However, it's grown past that point, and as you're aware on iPad in landscape that design is inadequate. As such, for the past few months I've been working on an entirely new interface. It's quite a challenge to design a good interface that scales well from a 4" iPhone to a 13" iPad while supporting rotation and split-screen multitasking, but I hope to release it as soon as possible! Adding Fahrenheit support shouldn't be a problem - I've added it to my to-do list :)
  • Awesome app!!

The perfect app for the 3d printer. I love this app and all of the features and advantages it provides. I have paired this app with an Ender 4 upgraded with MKS 1.4 and it is awesome. Happy that I can watch my prints with the camera attach to the raspberry with octopi.

I Recommend this app to all of my friends!
  • Must have for Octocam

This happened to be the first app I downloaded but being but it’s been great so far. No issues at all and the camera feed is quick on my phone
