a Question

How do you export/delete projects? I could never figure it out.

Works

I am using the PC version but was limited to only desktop. No longer with the iOS app. Just what the doctor ordered. YWriter on the go now. Proceed with caution when saving in Dropbox. The app will delete your work if you close the app before the save has finished.

Won’t Even Open

Paid $4.99 and downloaded, I don’t know what. I’ve got an icon and you can open a new folder, type title, author, and description and that’s it. Nothing, nada, zip. Glad others can open a program. Doesn’t work on my iPad

Great! But please add Google Drive support

Spacejock Software, Simon Haynes’ alter ego has provided subperb software tools for at least a decade; I have used them for that long or longer.

Seeing yWriter 6 here is exciting. I would award Five stars, but the Android version has Google Drive support and the iOS version does not. Please add Google Drive support to the iOS version. (iCloud for both would be nice! And adding cloud support to the Windows version would be SUPER!)

Any chance we will see Track a Minute (TAM) or RMP3 on iOS / Android? I would give $10 for each on each platform.

If work in yWriter could "send" to TAM for billing purposes, and send reminders from yWriter to RMP3 (and maybe Apple Reminders) that would be a dynamite suite of tools for professional writers (such as attorneys at law who time bill and often work on large, complex projects).

If yEdit were here (and on Android) to provide a “focused writing tool” (as it does on Windows and similar to your nearest competitor, Focus Writer), and if it could “send” to yWriter, that would be even better.

Interoperability is a hallmark of the best apps on iOS. The ability of any of these tools to send to Evernote, One Note, Apple Notes, Apple Reminders, Swipes, the Omni suite (Omni Outliner / Focus / Plan / Graffe) and even to your obvious competitors (such as Scrivener, ByWord, and Ulysses) makes tools such as yours hugely valuable to prospective customers.

Some customers will want “Markdown” (ByWord does this well so sending to them to achieve that would be a good option for some customers).

Myself, I am “old school” and still like exports to RTF so I can “adjust” a text using Microsoft Word. (In fact, I copy and paste texts daily back and forth between Word and yWriter on my Windows laptop. Actually, Scrivener is part of the mix, there, also. Each of those three tools have distinct advantages.)

I have admired, and used, your tools for many years Mr. Haynes; I hope you will consider implementing some of these suggestions.

Finally!

I’ve used yWriter5 for the PC to write a novel and a short story collection. Amazing tool. Simple, fast and powerful enough without superfluous gadgets.

The iOS version is a tad different due to the small screen, but the organization of scenes is great. Can’t wait to transfer a project back and forth. Then iOS will be for quick ideas and the PC for elaborate typing.

Perfect for PC to IPhone

The lament of any PC user that has an iPhone is the shear amount of headache associated with finding software that syncs up with both without copious amounts of manual file uploading and download. I love the pc ywriter software and now that there is the app for my phone linked to my Dropbox I am over the moon. As with any app in its early stages not all the kinks are worked out but I have no doubt it will continue to improve and I completely think it will be a well invested couple of dollars. It made nanowrimo so much easier this year and that in itself deserves a good review.

More frustrating than it's worth

Either Dropbox support needs to be refined or something has to be done about writing backups as in the desktop version or at least not overwriting an existing file when saving rather than deleting it and creating a new one every single time. Five times I've lost all of my progress because of "failed to save to dropbox" errors, and the methods of mitigating this provided by the developer haven't worked. At this rate using the app in tandem with the desktop version is less efficient than copying notes from iCloud

Finally a great cheap writing software!

I used to use yWriter on my computer, but lack of availability on mobile made me abandon it in favor of Scrivener, now let me tell you... Not only is the desktop version fully functional for free, the mobile app is well worth the $5. I regret ever spending $60 total on Scrivener.
I did knock one star because it's not very it intuitive. I'm having to do a fair amount of trial and error to figure out what does what, adding a guide would be very appreciated.
