  • Great App, needs more content

The app is fantastic, content is great, but once you finish the few courses available it becomes about daily streaks of practice.

I’d love to see more R content and a few more do the desktop courses within the app. There hasn’t been any new content in a while!
  • Terrible!

I decided to learn how to use Python at my free time and as a beginner, this experience has been horrible for me. It’s not explanatory enough and it’s a struggle to understand the tasks.
Also, sometimes my answers are right but the application just doesn’t accept it. I even went back to review the tasks and watched the videos from the beginning but still unnecessarily difficult to understand. I have now given up and going to find a better way to learn how to use Python.

The theory aspect is lacking a lot of details and for a beginner, it’s frustrating. I’ve never done programming or coding before so why not simplify it step by step and explain why somethings are the way they are. For example why do we have a negative (-) indicator was not explained and now I just don’t know when to use it. When I’m asked used slicing to create a list, I kept on trying but I just didn’t get it. Do better please.

Thank God I didn’t do the monthly subscription!

  • I use it almost everyday, so want to see more content!

I really like using the app, especially the short work outs. I try to use it everyday. Would really like to see more content, like the machine learning courses in there
  • Excellent!

I haven’t used the app much, but have been learning on the website since Jan 1 and it’s been amazing. It’s been a long time since I have theoretical classes and the exercises really help bring everything together. I’m very excited to have chosen DataCamp to become a data scientist — something I never would have imagined doing. Thank you to everyone at DataCamp!

  • Unprofessional, no notice of automatic billing

Disappointed with the lack of professionalism. BEWARE of providing any billing information to Datacamp everyone, as you have no option in the future to remove it.
I got no notification of automatic annual billing, and only found out when I had a $300 charge to my credit card. They claim to give a notice, but they do not. There is also NO reliable way of contacting support for datacamp, making the matters worse. As a result, I am taking this to the bank and legal action. Be careful everyone

  • The typing on the new version is very disappointing

Datacamp used to be awesome. I have learnt and practice coding on my phone with ease and pleasure.

However, after upgrade there are some key typing features missing that really annoys me:
    1. I used to just double tap on the “_ _ _ _” section and select only the underscore area and just start typing, easy. Now I cannot. I have to try to tap at the right location to delete these lines before typing, terrible.
    2. When you type in ‘, “, ( and [ it automatically give you a pair, you know like what you expect in any coding environment. This feature now is not there any more.

Ease of typing on the phone was a very good reason to learn coding in this app. Taking that away makes it pointless.

  • I love DataCamp but...

I love the app, the content and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in Data Analysis... I have the app 5 stars ⭐️ but to fully earn these I would love to see:

    - personal notebook are that would allow us to do further study certain topics.
    - the ability to save / fork the lesson documents into a personal archive or bookmarks or something for faster cross reference. Most of us when learning something new we tend to take notes and reference them in the future as we apply the information to new projects. It would be so useful to have these notes/bookmarks connected somehow to the courses so that if in the future I need to come back to that particular information I can do so in a clean and fast environment
    - dark theme for website and app

  • Buggy

I’m having issues when I change the rotation on my iPad. It literally stops working turning this app totally useless to me. Please fix it and I will change my review, but for now it is what it is.
  • Great for learning but crashes a lot

It’s a great little app to learn R. I’ve been trying to learn it for my PhD data analysis and found this app to be incredibly useful. I noticed I understand a lot more after doing the course and exercises than I did before from watching a few videos and reading a book.
It would be a significantly better experience on there mobile app if it didn’t crash whenever I submit an answer in the intermediate r course as I get annoyed with having to rewrite my answers, restart when that doesn’t work and have to do it all over again.

  • Excellent Learning tool

Step by step learning with hand holding, skip ahead when you want. Relevant exercices with tips when making a mistake. Good for both beginners and for refreshing.
