  • Great for beginners

I was looking for a good app to practice ACTUALLY writing the characters so I can not only learn how to speak and listen but write to be fluent in Japanese. This was the best app I could’ve gotten. I see a lot of reviews talking about how it doesn’t have certain things or whatnot but literally other apps which I won’t name here don’t have everything you need to master a language it’s just a good tool. Highly recommend getting the review feature which allows you to study groups of words you have already learned. I took one lesson at a time and kept mastering the review and slowly adding more characters. Love this app.

  • Very buggy

For some reason, pen often stops working between frames, e.g. going from 'a' to 'i', but only for tracing. Can still use pen to tap back, etc. Using this on my iPad Pro with Apple Pencil. App looks great, developer may want to check this issue.
  • It’s good!

It’s super good overall but the small little lines don’t pick up and it’s super annoying but wonderful app!
  • 5 Stars Minus 2 Stars' Worth of Bugs

Simple but good. Unfortunately, you can expect the app to crash at some point during a review, specifically when you're inputting a stroke. This has happened about 30% to 50% of the reviews I've done. It's frustrating when you're on #60 of a 100 character review and suddenly have to start over. And it's frustrating that it happens often enough to have you worried about it while working through the content. There are a few smaller bugs I've encountered that are far less annoying.
Also, it would be nice to be able to adjust the sensitivity of the stroke recognition. Sometimes I'll input an incorrect stroke and it will be recognized as one that's quite different.

  • Good for reinforcements, bad for introductions.

If you want to get introduced to new, this won’t help you, but if you have trouble with remembering how to write everything, but you remember the entire alphabet, then you could use it😅.
  • For iPad Writing Box

The box where you practise writing should be adjustable in size. When I am writing on my iPad the box is massive and it feels unnatural to write so big. If you could adjust using pinch that would be great.

Otherwise I do really like this app.
  • Best app for learning hiragana and katakana

This app has helped me so much. Being able to both write and read the characters helps a lot with memorization, and it is also fun and engaging to write the characters. There are ads in the app but I don’t consider it a big negative because it’s cheap to remove them and in my opinion it’s totally worth paying the cost. The biggest issue I have currently is if you accidentally draw to the edge of the box the drawing will freeze until you exit the lesson and restart. I’ve only noticed this issue on the iPad, but it’s my reason for reducing my rating slightly.

  • Let me tell you

This app is amazing first of all but when it comes to learning the languages I wish that they would have a little robot voice that would tell you how it works so you can also speak the languages but on the other hand this App is really really fun and especially the test still but you can also practice everybody’s out really that wants to do you really do recommend the sub it gets harder as you go it will time you and usually the second Duke got a little slow and there’s nothing bad about this app but there is no limit how many practices you can have how many tests you can have but I will keep telling you this game is really fun please download it

  • Helped a lot

This is such a good app. It helped me a lot when studying Japanese in school. It makes the characters easier to remember and is fun to do as well.
  • Excellent with Apple Pencil

Really well done. If it supported landscape as well as portrait mode, I’d give it five stars.
