This app is systematic and extremely useful. I would 100% recommend buying the paid edition, as you get your money's worth. The only app you need to learn Hiragana and Katakana.

Pretty good
Some context: i was using Duolingo to try and learn hiragana, but theres a gate level where you (are highly recommended to) learn the characters for hiragana before continuing. It felt like it was going too fast and by the time it said i had almost completed a few characters, i still felt like i had learnt nothing and couldn’t even write them. This app helped with that though, plus there isn't a lot (currently) held behind a paywall so it doesn’t feel like you HAVE to pay to be able to use it. Doing better with memorization of the characters with the apps help. Only criticism is that on iPad, it turns the screen. Everything else is pretty good.Show lesswayyuoop
Very nice app that does its job.
The app is quite useful and I learned how to write the katakana and hiragana properly with it. The only problem that bothered me was that it’s not organized based on columns, it’s just sort of 5 letters in each thing even if the letters are from different columns.asheeshal123

Loved until…
This app design has been great for me to learn to write and recognize hiragana in an interactive, fun, easy to do anywhere way! I use it to supplement my learning on another app. I absolutely loved it until it would not advance me past hiragana level 6. I have tested perfectly many many times in the hopes that it would let me progress but the third star needed to advance is elusive. I am disappointed because the practice in this app has really helped me solidify my learning up to this point. I hope the developers come up with a fix.Show lessNickname123545678975325688

Awesome app, few small additions for perfection.
This app is fantastic. Memorized how to read and write Hiragana in 3 days.
With a few additions to the paid version, this would be absolutely perfect. The review feature needs more options, such as selecting to review only particular lessons, or being able to just pool the Kana you are struggling with into one practice or test.
I also wish the audio was recorded by an actual native of Japan and not a robot. This would go a looooong way in perfecting pronunciation.Show lessCx2-88
