Local Haze User Reviews

Top reviews

Great but flawed

The good: intuitive access to sensor network, more accuracy than other apps I’ve used, sensor reliability indicators.

The bad: favorites cannot be grouped by location.

The ugly: $10/year subscription to turn on air quality push notifications. Notifications are a basic safety feature in an air quality app, and linking them to a subscription service feels like hostage-taking. I’d gladly pay $30 for a one-time purchase of this app, but signing on to an open ended recurring payment where I’m opted into future price hikes is a hard no.

The guy who invented SaaS should be vilified as one of history’s greatest scoundrels.

Great app, super clean UI!

A great app that fills a valuable niche in a way that few others do quite so well. Very user-friendly, with an excellent UI!

OK, but Just approximate

I was delighted to find an app to read local purple air sensors on my phone. However, the same sensor provides different AQI on my phone and purple air website.

Great and imperfect

I am happy to give Local Haze a five star review. It has more monitors that update more frequently than any other phone based air quality app. When there is a local fire and shifting winds, it tells me when to bring the kids in NOW not waiting an hour and a half like some other (generally good) apps.
The graphics are simple and the features are few, but what it does, it does very well. And here in Northern California, that is critical.

Great app!

I downloaded Local Haze last week while in Lake Tahoe where the fires are happening. The app really helped me to understand the quality of the air while I was there.

Decent Purple Air Monitor for AQI and PM Readings

I have found that while Purple Air does not have an official app, Local Haze offers a simple app to view PM 1, 2.5, and 10 data as well as AQI readings. I only wish temp and humidity were also available on the app from the Purple Air monitor.

Please make iOS widget

Love that it shows PM 1, 2.5, 10 concentrations from PurpleAir sensors. Please make a widget that always shows the PM2.5 for a selected favorite sensor. Notifications when pollution crosses over a selectable threshold would be great also.

Much to like but needs more

Love that it has so many monitor sources. But dislike lack of info at top level. Map just shows a color instead of AQI number (see purpleair site) Have to drill down to sensor for more. Also really needs a new iOS 14 widget!!!!!!!!!

Great App!

This app is easy and quick to use. All the air quality data is organized on a map! Genius.

Great app

Easy to setup and use!

I monitor the sensors where I live and also at my Dad's apartment, that way I can alert him if there's a problem in the nearby industrial area.

Highly recommended!
