I have never been so motivated to read

I read the first free part of the book and it was grate. At the end when it suggested I buy the rest of the game normally I would have been annoyed, but for some reason I had a sad/happy feeling and a grin on my face. I don’t normally like reading but this was an exception. It is one of the coolest darn things I have ever seen. The animation are awesome with the story and the puzzles which is cool , but then you add the ambient sounds mixed with the music,(the last page had my favorite music so far), and the ability to interact with the character made an experience that the word amazing fits perfectly. But I do want to now if the story will continue to expand or is there a set amount of chapters. Perhaps in the future there will be different stories if this is the case please take my money. Any way thanks for letting me experience something so awesome!

Great game, clever ideas

First things first, I want to address people complaining about the paywall. I myself didn’t even realize that “Way-Pall” was supposed to hint that, and the entire thing tripped me out. But after reading the entire thing, I definitely think it was worth it to buy the rest. Yes, it may use the side of people that really want to finish things like stories, jobs, or other stuff, but I’ve got to admit they do all of these things in clever ways no app I’ve seen has ever done before.
Something I also noticed in the reviews is that not a single person complained about the content being just generally bad. That’s really good in any sort of app, whether or not it’s a game, or a book, or whatever. It’s crazy how well you guys (talking to the devs here) did on this, and for not even one person to review this as bad content? That’s something that I thought was an impossible deed, but you pulled it off, and with tons of style at that.
To the developers, I really hope you’ll keep making more of these type of “experiences” (and hopefully with either a small paywall or just a link to a donation thing at the end) and I’ll definitely support you guys through whatever you do (as long as you keep up the good work). And wanting to end on a good note, keep up the good work! 😄👌❤️👍

Excellent

Please don’t let the cost put you off! SAVE MICHAEL he needs you. This was the most fun I’ve had reading for ages!! More books like this would be absolutely amazing!! It would help kids no end! I want more! It’s clever and original and I promise you won’t be disappointed..

Needs a new writer, sorry!

I’m so excited by the possibilities of app-novels, and this had some nice touches, but when one of the first things I read was ‘skyscrappers’, I began to worry.
At the beginning it says, just like a novel, you can’t turn back. But in novels you can do just that. You can rifle back to confirm your suspicions. You can re-read something if you were tired and it didn’t all go in.
The writing doesn’t fit the screen well - there are lots of divi-ded words from one line to the next. The story jumps from the main character’s pov to someone else’s without warning, and I’m really sorry, but you need a better writer.
The look of it is slick, pretty and not overpowering, and I was hugely excited by this. Sorry not to write a better review.

Response from developer

Hello! I totally understand your criticism and thank you for it. I am not a professional writer, you are right. And I will try to make some further adjustments with your help (scyscrapper is surely my mistake). Still though, considering the comment about inability to go back: It doesn't say, that "just like in novel" you can't turn back. It says "just like in real life". And the format of this story needs this condition as it's all happening in real time. S

Excellently developed

I’m not a fan of the way readers are asked to pay (if you don’t, this character will die! Not cool. My anxiety was not a fan.) but everything else about this game is amazing. It is so deliciously interactive and immersive. The riddles were challenging but intuitive and rewarding (except the combination lock one. I had to look up the answer on that one.) the use of typography and text was so satisfying.
Perhaps consider a minimum upfront fee $2.99 with the option of paying more? Or at the end a link to a kickstarter for your next game? I would get on board with that. But interrupting the story to ask for money is not great. Ads would be terrible. All the folks suggesting ads are dumb. It would take away from the story telling experience. A game like this would do well on word of mouth and reviews alone. No need to “tempt our tastebuds” with two free chapters. Anywho! Thank you for creating this amazing experience. I hope to see more.

Beautiful!!!

This “visual novel type” game dives down into the depths of your own imagination in order to bring the pages and the words to life. It guides you down a path that is absolutely extraordinary and, just put simply, beautiful. The game itself brought me to tears with how much time and effort was put into the game. Truly beautiful and amazing! I would really like to see another game like this, where it focuses on the reader guiding a confused person down a road of caution, tension and emotional outcomes that end up worth it in the end. I absolutely loved this game and how you have to interact with it to make it go forward. Goodbye to you too Michael, it was fun reading about you and our journey together.

Too short to pay $4.99

I’m a fast reader and can only finish something if it is interesting enough to hold my attention. While the story didn’t draw me in right away, it did eventually as soon as the interactivity started. I wish there was more of it in the story, especially at the beginning which started off slow to me. It’s my fault for not realizing this had an in-app purchase before downloading, otherwise I would’ve not downloaded it at all. I can only justify purchasing a game or app if the price is fair for the amount of time I’ll spend using it. While I realize not everyone reads as fast as I do, it took me only 15 minutes to get through the first 2 free chapters. Based on that, if I were to pay $4.99 I would only get another 30 minutes of interactive reading for a total of 45 minutes. As much as I want to finish the story, I’m not paying $4.99 to do so since there isn’t enough content to justify the price. Again, I pay for apps only if it justifies the price. For me unfortunately this one does not. If the devs worked on the story and interactivity to make it longer, then I would consider purchasing.

I loved the app!!

This is one of the best games/stories I’ve ever played/read. The sad part is having to pay for the rest. The price is very low to play the rest. Only $4.99 come on how much lower could the developers make it. In the future when I get the money to play the rest I definitely will. Also I can tell that the developers put so much time and effort into this game to make it the best they could. So if you are annoyed in any way I see where it’s coming from having to pay for the rest, but for this game/book I can tell that it would be worth it no doubt. Also the developers have to make money some how. You cant just put your heart and soul into a game and make it free. I admit that I would’ve made the price higher due to my situation. None the less this is a great game/book and I will recommend it to my friends so they give it a try. Good job developers!! I also would love to see you guys make another game like Maginery because you have so much talent!!

Interesting idea

I find the whole premise of this very promising, but the pay wall was a huge disappointment. I understand you need some money, but I would prefer having ads (which can be turned off with a purchase) so everyone can truly experience the story instead of just a fraction of it before getting shutdown.
I also wasn’t a fan of the integration of the pay wall. The setup was fine, but the whole price drop thing is a psychological trick. It’s basically the definition of a “door in the face” approach, in which you start at a high price and then drop it a little so people are more likely to buy it, even though they probably wouldn’t have if you flat out started with the final price.
As a college student, I can’t make sense of spending $5 on 4 chapters of a story, especially when the first two were so short.
Overall, really neat idea and it’s executed well in the first two chapters. Unfortunately I won’t be able to continue.

An Idea for creators

It is unfortunate that we need to pay, I agree. but as soon as I went through the short adventure (not full version), I was so captivated by all the sounds and interactions that I didn’t want it to stop.
The idea I had was that if you could buy it from the get go (yes that’ll mean that the price would have to stay the same, sad I know) you could have it that either the main character finds the token somewhere (maybe shimmering under or on something) or maybe even in his pocket (I don’t know if he has pockets, it’s an idea).
Anyway I love interactive books (it makes me feel like I’m in the stories themselves) and from what I’ve seen from this game has been spot on. And that’s why I gave you 4 stars (keep up the good work)
