  • Subscription Model is a hard pass for me

I’ve been using this app as my go-to mobile photo editing app since about 2012, before there was any native photo editing in iOS. I happily paid for it back then and it’s absolutely felt worth it, the features are great, it’s served me well. This morning I tried to open the app and got an error: I need to upgrade before it’ll work on this iOS. Imagine my surprise I re-download from the app store and am bombarded with “free trial” buttons that won’t disappear enough for me to use the top portion of the screen and a constant reminder that if I want to keep using this app, I’ll have to pay for it, again and again, forever. Unfortunately I already do that with Adobe for work, so I guess I’ll have to switch over to Lightroom. I would have been willing to pay another flat fee once for upgrades, but not to buy into another subscription. Really disappointed, I really liked this app.

  • The original one is way better!

I’m disappointed with this new version of Afterlight due to the fact that I am not given that option to restore any of the features I had previously bought from the original one.

To access all those features AGAIN just by purchasing the monthly/yearly subscription is quite unfair and I refuse to pay that. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please fix this issue and give people that option to restore/access any of those features they have already bought. Thanks!

  • The original app is better

Downloaded this after updating iOS and losing the original app because it’s no longer supported or being updated. I had purchased all the extra features in the original app, but in this one you have to pay a monthly subscription. I emailed the developer a week ago to see if there is a way to transfer my purchased features to the new app, never received a reply. I refuse to pay for features that I already paid for. The new app isn’t great, a lot of features are missing that the original had. I wish they’d just put out an update for the original. 🤦🏼‍♀️

  • Better of you had premium without paying

I would like the app way more if we had premiere without paying,I would use the app way more often and would make everyone who has this app happier. Otherwise I would recommend downloading this app if you are willing to pay for premium but the app by its self without premium is fine too.
  • Subscription-locked, too expensive

Was recommended the app, read (old) reviews. Decided to buy it, but Afterlight 2 seems to no longer exist.
So rather than paying £3 for the app (as I could have done in 2018), my only option is to pay a monthly subscription for the same app??
The free version has most of the tools locked to premium.
I don’t buy subscription software on principle, but this one is especially overpriced.
If anyone can direct me to the actual afterlight 2 app (single purchase) please let me know and I will stand corrected.

  • Impressive

The more I use this app the more it has become a part of my editing workflow. There aren’t too many apps that do things different but the ability to overlay gradients and colors is an amazing way to improve the lighting in your images. Selective dodge and burn by painting on the adjustments is a welcome feature as well. I hope there is more fine tuning added to all of the touch adjustment features in the future because I think they are the best part of this app. Let’s be clear, none of these are never before seen features but the way they are implemented into the app + having them on my phone / iPad are crucial. This has replaced photoshop for my final adjustments.

  • Scam!

I was using afterlight since basically it came out it was my go to app and I paid for some dusk/ligh filters and frames however after changing my phone and updating to new version everything was gone and only subscription was available which is to pay again for something I already bought?? Tried to contact them but haven’t received reply back. Such a shame because I really liked the app but will have to stick with other apps that I would recommend like VSCO or RetroCam for free options without paying ridiculous amount of money.

  • Okay, was hoping for a different experience

First off, the good: nice UI, easy to navigate, and runs smoothly. No crashing, and interesting effects you can apply to photos and play with.

The bad: As with most apps nowadays it requires a subscription model to get the ‘meat’ of the app. I know they’ll likely reply to this & indicate how they need it to be profitable; however I already have Photoshop & Lightroom, which already does everything this app does and more. The only reason to use this is for “instant gratification”/ convenience where I can edit photos on my phone as opposed to uploading them to my laptop to edit. Why would I pay another annual/monthly subscription for the same thing, just for a small convenience? Probably not the only person in this scenario and it’s worth finding a solution for on the developers end, IMO.

Additionally, Snapseed already has some of the premium features of this app for free which makes it a hard sell; while this app does have unique and interesting features too, they all require a subscription to use outside a free trial period.

Personally, I don’t want anymore subscriptions and won’t have any interest in it, I’d rather either deal with unobtrusive banner ads or one time purchases.

Thank you and good luck with the app. 🙏🏻

  • Unbelievably Stupid

No crashing. No freezing. It works great. But it works great for the features that it has... that is almost nothing. You cannot save an image to override the original. And although it has a Photos app extension, the extension is extremely limited. I was hoping I could use the extension to edit with this app that way it would override the original photo. Only to find that the extension didn’t have the filter that I FAVORITED. If there is an extension, a limited feature set is justifiable if it offered quick access to FAVORITES. At the very least. Goodness I’m angry because I haven’t found a single app in the App Store that is actually good. To devs of this app: this app is also stupid and ridiculous just like any other. Congrats you didn’t do anything different than anyone else.

Again, no option to override original.
But that’s why it’s a good thing there is an Apple photos extension, but then the extension doesn’t allow me to do SH**. What retards.

  • Disappointed..

It’s nothing like the old version of Afterlight, I loved the old app a lot more..
