Will change to 5⭐️

Guys, this is clearly the best thesaurus there is, which I also use as a dictionary. The context and related word sets are incredible.

The reason I’m knocking off a star is because when you leave the app and come back and tap the search bar to look for another word, the cursor goes for some ungodly reason *before* the word of the previous search. This means instead of just pressing delete to remove the previous word, you have to tap to the end of the previous word, then delete it. *So* annoying for someone using the app constantly.

Please just put the default location of the cursor at the end of the previous word.

Disappointed.

There is no word with “Legoshi” and I just don’t understand why, Legoshi is a wolf in a show called Beastars. He is cool and he only as the name Legoshi

This app makes my writing smarter

Originally I discovered the Word Hippo website when I was looking for a thesaurus. It didn’t disappoint, but then I realized they had an app! Seriously! Download this app because you will be smarter for using it. The way it is structured and laid out just makes sense!
The English language can be confusing because there are multiple meanings and spellings of common words.
I find myself using this app all the time, I end up learning something new every time I look up a word or short phrase.

👏🏼My.👏🏼Holy.👏🏼Grail.👏🏼

Y’all. I’ve been using this app for probably about a year now and not to be dramatic but it changed my life dude🙇🏼‍♀️. I’m a college student and I always find myself looking for synonyms even just to write a quick email. I swear I use this app every day😭. And the fact that it’s completely free is insaneeeee. You can upgrade for 3 bucks one time purchase to favorite words and notes but they don’t shove it in your face like every other app.
But seriously, it gives you a crazy amount of synonyms and they’re ACTUALLY unique and well thought out.
You can search for common sayings or things with more than one word. Like you could search “sleeping like a baby” and it’ll give you normal synonyms but also things like “catching some zzz's”.
Alsoo another big thing for me is how easy it is to use. It’s basic and has a very simple layout.
Definitely a nerd for this one but idc take my advice

Fantastic thesaurus, but doesn't work offline

I use a thesaurus as an accessibility aid, for when there's a *specific* word I can't think of, but I know a *general* word I can search for.

WordHippo is exceptionally well-organized: the shades of meaning of each word are split out into many 'contexts', which in turn list synonyms for *that particular sense* of the word. This isn't novel, except that they're *very* fine-grained -- "agree" is part of "To give assent to and act on a suggestion by another", "To be consistent with", and another *fifteen* contexts!

My one *big* complaint is that WordHippo doesn't work without Internet access! My iPad is a secondary device that's often disconnected, and I tend to reach for a thesaurus at random in conversation, not when I've sat down to write something, so finding a wifi network or turning on hotspot is a big speed bump.

If you’re a logophile, this app is definitely for you!

This is my first app review EVER, I’m over 40 so that speaks volumes about how supreme this app is!!!

If you’re not a logophile, it’s for you too. This is one of my favorite apps. It can be used in so many ways, definitions, synonyms, antonyms(replaces thesauruses by a mile), rhyming words, homonyms, etc. It’s amazing when you can think of the just of what you’re wanting to connote, but just can’t think of the word; that on the tip of the tongue feeling. For example I wanted to use the word procrastinate but my brain would only give me hints and all I could think of was putting something off. I mean they’re similar, but have different connotations.

I enjoy learning and if you do too, you’ll love this app. I hear it’s great for scrabble players. I enjoy finding uncommon words to use. Sometimes when I’m waiting somewhere, I’ll go down a rabbit hole in this app instead of playing a game.

*IMPORTANT: Learning new things keeps your brain creating new neural pathways which helps keep it plastic and helps fend off Alzheimer’s and boredom.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Cannot live without it

This app is truly wonderful…extraordinary…resplendent…amazeballs? (Yes, that is truly a synonym offered in the app.)

The thing that makes this app stand out is how very comprehensive it is. It not only includes words, but also idioms, slang, acronyms, and so on. It has synonyms, antonyms, rhymes, scrabble word finders, etc etc. I’ve yet to find any other “dictionary” app that can do as much as this one can.

The only thing that irks me is the limit on “favorited” words. I purchased the upgraded version both to support the developers and because I really wanted to be able to bookmark words and phrases that I like. Maybe I’m the exception, but a 200-word limit makes no sense to me. It just seems arbitrary. I’ve ended up storing my “bookmarks” in another app while I use this one for it’s main search functions, but it sort of defeats the purpose of the paid version.

That’s my one major qualm. Other than that I am beyond impressed by how well done this app is. Kudos to the people who made it happen!!!

Makes you active and learn more

I love this app because it tells you all the different things like similar word opposite word I love it very much who have created it and it’s really fun . I use it for my homework but some people may not like it. I love it it helps you so so so much if you haven’t got it, you should try it.

Ok

Always comes up with the alternative words to something you just cannot think what to put in that message with many choices and ideas brilliant

OMG - Tight

It’s the tightest dictionary + thesaurus there is. The palsy sum they request is beyond reasonable for this amazingly mind-opening dictionary. The care to provide deep context with every last word is both impressive and useful. Helped and continues to help me make my point succinctly, and to look up immediately words I’ve never heard but also sets the tone that there is much more to learn about every word you hear. Just pay the $ if you’re reading this review you aren’t broke.
