  • Foregoes function for aesthetic

Not sure why this app is trying to pass bad design as stylish. The UX really needs improvement, esp the login page. There's no place that addresses "forgot email or password". I've made multiple accounts just because going thru that recovery process is so troublesome, and making another account is already so so troublesome. Then there was an issue where it said to verify my email but when i tried, it said there was an error and to contact the support team. From what I remember, there's some interesting content but wow the entry point is really pulling this app into the dirt. Also, the navigation was not super clear and it's confusing how one should go about using this app, even with the tutorial in the beginning. Seriously consider investing in building out a better system because it's truly not working.

  • Everything an iPhone app should be

Honestly my favorite social media right now. Zero ads. Pure creativity. The board explore page is pure chance for you to stumble across something amazing. All visual creatives need this app.
  • Sticking to the browser version

The web tool is incredible. I use it everyday. Would love to use the app but half the time it won’t let me sign in. I put the correct email and password and it just refreshes back to the login screen.
  • Keeps freezing

Mostly use on desktop but increasingly on my phone. Noticed lately it’s been freezing and i cant do anything besides close the app or it just crashes itself. Kinda bummed considering how much we pay to use it 🙃
  • Clear search history

Please put a clear search history option in settings or anywhere.

    Thank you.
  • Great website, terrible app

One of the greatest websites to exist on the internet
    But what a garbage app
Impossible to navigate, UI is insanely lacking
    Not at all user friendly
  • What I’m Looking For

Dispute some minor lagging and the interface issues (understandable since the company is small), I really enjoy this app. I found something that isn’t actively trying to get me to buy something, and promotes an actual creative experience that’s user driven, and not super algorithmic. Feels like old tumblr. Highly rec.

  • Amazing App but…

I stumbled across Are.na by mistake and fell in love with it immediately. It minimalistic interfaces are beautiful, very easy to use.
Now, I use it on my iPad because I need my iPad for work and Are.na has become quite useful for my work too, the problem is; while I’m exploring or just about to connect an image to my block the app shuts down completely.
It’s quite a nuisance and wastes a lot of my time as I have to search for the images again.
I really love this app, but because of this problem I’ve stopped using the app and instead use it on the pc when I can.

  • Happy to find...

This app was only appreciated by me in the sense that it made me aware of the website. While I quickly fell in love with concept of app and amount of user engagement and community participation, I found the ios app to be very buggy, and lacking some core features. Simply speaking, for me at least, I much prefer using the standard mobile-view web app in safari. If i could make a recommendation, abandon the "native" like features in ios app, which would be considered unpopular opinion by many, however a simple "webview" style app in a safari skin would likely perform better, and could be scaled along with web app versions as they are released. IMO for such minimalist approach in an app, native features are not really required and honestly even bloat things a bit.

  • Mixed feelings

I love are.na and use it daily, I’m a paid subscriber to the platform and value what it has brought to my life, however, the recent price increase has to come with major updates for me to justify continuing. Especially to this app and the chrome / iPhone save to are.na features. They often freeze completely and there are a lot of bugs and design inconsistencies. Worst of all is the slow load and upload times for content, it’s a real problem when you use it multiple times a day. I’m finding myself leaving feeling frustrated more and more, rather than satisfied or inspired. I will stick around for the time being but expect an improved service soon for the increase in cost.
