Added an Audio Companion feature! You can now add an audio file to each board and have it play alongside your board and as part of the video export. Add a file from the "Audio Companion" page; play a panel's snippet by tapping the vinyl record button. The FAQ/Manual will be updated with more details. The interface is currently simple, but simplicity is where I hope this app shines. I've been wanting this feature since inception, and I'm happy to bring it to you today! As always, thank you to all the supportive emails requesting this feature. Other enhancements in this update include: * Much more precise "live" animation timing. * New "board properties" pop-over to cleanup the top bar a bit, includes project details too. * Moved the share button to the properties view. * Better rounding (when required) when exporting video frames. * Video export timing will display as a fraction if that option is selected in app settings. * Fixed the board size chooser being too small. * Fixed dark mode coloring in a few spots. * Fixed some touch interaction problems introduced in iOS14 (e.g. in onion layer options, and detail text). * Possible fix of rare "ghost project" bug when renaming a board. * Made export progress bar opaque; no more clear gap!

Small bug fixes and improved iOS 13 support. * Fixed the layer popover not taking up vertical height as needed. * Fixed the canvas not opening to fullscreen (iOS 13). * Fixed grayscale color picker column showing the off-by-one wrong current color * Improved layer opacity UX: now the value is "committed" every time you lift your finger from the slider -- this makes sure the value is saved even if you "tap out" of the layer popover. * Possible fix of a rare and illusive "missing detail text when expanded" bug. * Fixed text color problem in a few places (iOS).

* Added thumbnail caching (memory and disk). > This greatly improves board overview performance. > New board button (a gear) can be used to clear (thus reset) the cache. * Made large complex drawings "flatten" their layers. > This greatly improves panel load time, canvas switching smoothness, and file size. > Note: this removes the infinite undo history. > You may experience one-time slightly longer loading when leaving panels made before this update. * Fixed laggy opacity slider. * Fixed slow layer popover display (introduced last update). * Moved board zoom button next to other layout buttons. * Small improvement to live playback. * Other internal refactoring. Caching and drawing flattening have been in the works for a while; thank you to those who contributed your large projects for testing.

Description of Storyboard Animator

Create storyboards: draw, arrange, time, write, and animate. Use the simple drawing interface to sketch a panel or import (with drag and drop) from any other app. Set the timing, write dialog, action, and SFX for each panel. Play the board back as an animatic to get a feel of your final project. Export as a video, PDF, HTML, images, or text file. Timing can be as small as a single frame, so real-time animations can be demonstrated within the board. Tap on the "scene" circles to increment the scene count (swipe to decrement). Made for iPad, works on iPhone.

Reviews of Storyboard Animator

  • I may be new, but there’s some red flags

OK so I recently downloaded this app and I’ve been noticing some things because you have to pay to do more stuff on the app and I feel like it’s very limited to the people who don’t want to pay

Second off when I tried to do another Storyboard, it didn’t let me draw, and I try to go out and do it again but I couldn’t draw and it was very frustrating and difficult. I almost wanted to delete the app.

And third when I was trying to do it, animation, it crashed, and I don’t like apps that crashed so that was kind of a red flag for me

And I read some reviews on the app, and I kind of sort at the rest
OK I give it a two out of five I was going to give it a one, but I wanted to be nice

And even though I just downloaded the app and I can’t really comment a lot of things on it, it’s pretty OK but I feel like there needs to be more updates and you shouldn’t have to pay for most of the features because that’s unfair to people who cry on the budget or don’t want to pay for stuff

And I really like animation it’s very fun for me. I like to animate off FlipaClip sometimes, but this app just needs more updates and like I feel like you need to start updating more of the apps so that more people could use it because I looked at the rate again it’s not really the best, so not trying to be rude or anything. There should be some things to fix
    About the app
  • Paid for premium. Enjoying the app but slightly disappointed.

I never really rewrite reviews, but art is kind of my thing and I feel strongly enough to leave a review. I initially wanted to leave a four star because, as simplistic as it is, I really do feel like this app has potential. But for what it is, it keeps crashing every so often which is, for lack of a better word, frustrating to deal with. Luckily I haven’t lost any work. It’s also frustrating because this is an issue you wouldn’t learn of unless you pay for it. I didn’t mind since it was only about 4.99 or so. Maybe there should be a beta version of the app that’s open until a fully developed version releases, although it doesn’t feel like updates are being made at all. I’m working from 2021 entry level ipad with enough storage so pardon me if I sound rude, but for as long as this app has been on the play store, I don’t see how an issue like this wouldn’t have been resolved by now. In good news, I like the app because of how simplistic it is. I wish more layers could be implemented or that layers could be swapped around. I also think the ability to cut something from one layer to add it to another would be great. In all, my only issues are the constant crashes with no crash report and the archaic layers system.
  • Good but

It’s an easy to use app, really straightforward. I love that!
One thing that I would love to see is the ability to import a picture from my camera roll and be able to doodle over it.
I would save a lot of time because I can use stills from the treatment I presented my clients and just focus on the description part of the story board instead of still having to draw them out.
I hope this is an update you guys add in the near future because that would be a game changer
