Could not exchange USDC for Monero

App was being ridiculous, could not exchange coins and kept getting the same error “not enough to cover fees” when I had enough money to cover the transaction. My money is stuck on this app and the fact the support isn’t 24/7 is insane. I’ve been trying to make this exchange for 3 hours. I can’t even send the money back to my Coinbase. I looked up the ETH fees and I had enough to cover so it’s not making sense.

Hi Jo22popp, Note that sending cryptocurrency does not include ANY fees that go to Cake Wallet, and are entirely dependent on network fees at the time of sending on a given cryptocurrency network. You can also change the speed of the transaction to lower fees if you're willing to wait longer. Edit on my one star review

I gave this a one star review last night because I thought I was scammed out of monero. As it turns out, I am just an inpatient moron. The app is actually great. Attention to all people who may have thought the same thing as me: You must let your XMR wallet SYNCHRONIZE (the countdown of blocks at the top) before you will have transactions shown. One of the better places to exchange and store monero especially now the 3 letter agencies love tracking bitcoin.

I got lucky

Good app, with great features (I mostly use it for exchanges) but the real shoutout goes to the support team. Jack recently went well out of his way to help me when I screwed up a high value transaction! Really gives peace of mind that they’re an honest team and will help if they can!

Endless syncing issues

Forced to use a iOS wallet since my laptop broke, cake is known as the best but my first sync took 4 hours and it doesn't sync in the background even when you set it to hard background sync, I've been unable to get it to sync again and if you leave the nodes page you Lose all connection, very frustrating.

Payment system changes every time

Every time I’ve used this it’s asked for a new and different buying system which takes 24 hours to validate. Why can’t it stay the same. The last straw is it asked me to make a bank transfer to a Swiss bank account for my bitcoin and one I did it says it will take up to three days to get my money. Have I been scammed? Will not be using again

CakeWallet receives none of the network transaction fees these are paid directly to the miners of the network. You can set a custom fee amount in the settings of the app so you are in control of the fee rate you pay.

Such an overrated app

I’ll admit this app is great when it works. Notice I said when which is almost never in my case. This app is glitchy af and I constantly have issues that are really frustrating to deal with. The support is a joke and this app is poor. definitely doesn’t live up to such a high rating

Works sometimes, but eventually the software will likely eat your money

So many updates breaks compatibility with old ios versions… Using this app will constantly require you to upgrade ios without forewarning you that all your money is gone until you update. And if your phone cant upgrade to the required ios - get ready for a painful recovery process - and if you didnt save your keys, goodbye moolah!

You cannot ever lose your money/crypto in Cake Wallet as you always should always have your seed/private keys written down in a safe place - as the app clearly instructs you to do so. As for older versions of iOS, we continue to build new features into the app which cannot work on old iOS versions.
