A solid word puzzle game

It’s pretty fun. For the puzzles are usually the right amount of challenging but fun. I love the art direction too. Very cute, and very welcoming. It’s pleasing to look at and the designs are all cute.

Sometimes it feels like I go through the honey (what you spend to play each puzzle) a bit quickly though. But maybe I just play it in one go a lot.

The adds aren’t usually too bad. Sure they’re a tad annoying but they offer a paid version so you don’t have to see them, which I think is fair. I did have an add that required me to interact with it for a minute before it would go away, and honestly that was a bit of a turn off. More so for the game it was trying to get me download than Alphabear, but you know, still kinda annoying.

Overall though it’s a good game. Especially if you like word puzzles and cute bears. I’d recommend it.

Pretty sick

There’s not that many ads, though you can choose to watch them if you’d like to earn more of the currencies. The characters are cute and their conversations can be funny. This game has a lot of content so I don’t think you’d be disappointed if you were looking for just a fun game or something to play for like a year. Oh and they have a little dress shop which is cool THOUGH THERE SHOULD BE MORE OPTIONS TO GET BLUE CLOTH. I need that Marilyn Monroe wig.

Started fun

The game is ok. Started out great. I paid the no ad which made it better. The idea is to level up your bears to be able to play the levels in the story line. That’s awesome until you get higher. The bears come up every 6 days to go to school to level up. One level at a time. If you’re lucky 2. Needless to say it takes months to get them high enough to play the story levels. So daily you play the school levels or the daily challenge which gets boring. This is not a game you can sit and play for hours. It’s not set up that way. Takes too long to regenerate energy and to level up the bears. So it’s just ok

Patronising: I think you’ve played too much...honey!

Wow. I’m an adult. I can drink, smoke, vote, fight for my country and even get married; however, I cannot play a game I have paid £4.99 for because a developer has taken a decision on my behalf about my gaming habits. And that I was playing the game in an “unhealthy” way.

Golly gosh. Lectured to by a games developer about my gaming habits. Staggering in its utter lack of irony and inherent hypocrisy.

A one person stand against the pernicious influence of gaming on societal norms. Some users - this user - would suggest that this is sanctimonious cant of the most nanny-state kind; presumably more aligned to the developers own guilt and self-loathing.

Might I suggest you get some therapy privately rather than work out your issues on fee-paying punters who in good faith thought that paying for something meant they got to choose how they then used it rather than buying into a cult of someone who needs to programme in self-control.

Shame because diverting game.

Love the game, few complaints

I played SpryFox’s Triple Town (check that out if you like puzzle games), which led me to their first Alphabear game (fun but flawed, don’t bother tbh, skip straight to this game). I’ve paid for ad-free/lifted restrictions on all 3 games—fun and challenging, stylized and cute. My only gripe is that, when you get further into the game, it can take over a week to beat a certain level, because you have to wait for the type of bear you need to upgrade to have its special “bear school” day. I find that especially stupid, but I can see why they did it.

New Review

Okay, I just saw what you meant when app quit because there were no words left to make. It is frustrating but I see you are not breaking the rules and are being fair.
The new review is just the plain truth that I am addicted to this fun, nicely challenging game and I know the other customers will be too.
Okay my ‘bear friends’ let’s hug this out with a big bear hug.

This is old review:

‘The app makers said they had fixed a bug that “caused the game to quit early under some circumstances.” They did not fix it at all. I used my coins which I had purchased to play the special event to earn honey which you must have to play the game. I estimate that the game ended early not allowing me to finish and even have a chance to earn honey 80% of the time. I changed my bears I used and strategies but still the game quit early time after time. This is no bug or accident - it is a way to cheat more money out of players. Please note that Alphabear 1 got similar complaints. Unless you enjoy being ripped off by cheating companies don’t play this game.’

Response from developer

Thanks for the revised review! No worries; we're glad that you're passionate about the game. This is the old response: 'We did indeed fix "a bug that 'caused the game to quit early under some circumstances.'" The bug caused the game to end whenever 30+ tiles were on the board, which is not a proper reason for the game to end. This particular bug was introduced in version 01.09.00 and is fixed in version 01.09.01. There are some proper reasons for a game to end "early," which you can read about here: https://support.spryfox.com/hc/en-us/articles/218504898-My-game-ended-too-quickly . We did not "fix" those because the game is behaving properly so there is no "bug" to fix. If you've found a case where the game is still incorrectly ending early, please email support@spryfox.com the details and any relevant screenshots so that we can look into the problem.'

Great but not giving rewards as supposed to anymore

Been playing a few months and I really enjoy it.

However, it is not delivering as it once did. A lot of my bears are levels 30-75. The Daily Stories page does not pay out the rewards as “guaranteed” what is it supposed to anymore when you win which is frustrating if you are hoping to collect a specific item. “Guaranteed coins” pays out berries or other things for example.

Getting weary

I’ve been enjoying the game but lately it feels like I have hit a wall. Need to level a lot to progress in the storyline for normal and hard mode, need to level 200 more levels with several bears to get even a single legendary bear. Very rarely get the new bears I need in time warps. It feels more and more like, after already paying to remove ads, the only way to progress is buying the $10 and $20 packs that will level bears for you and give you the bears you need to earn legendary bears. Otherwise it is spending a lot of time a day leveling as many bears as you can, waiting for honey to regenerate, then leveling more bears. It’s just becoming a bit tedious and not as enjoyable as it used to be.

This page may help if you're feeling stuck in Story Mode: https://support.spryfox.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021971334-I-m-stuck-in-Story-Mode-a-k-a-The-Campaign-AB2-

My New Favorite Game

I got this game not really knowing if I would enjoy it or not. It’s turned into one of my favorite games. Everything about it is so adorable and I’m a sucker for puns, this game is right up my alley. I wish there wasn’t ads after finishing most matches, as there’s other ways for the game to have you watch ads. That’s my only complaint about the game though, I love it!

Lovely word game, without overt monetization

I’ve really been enjoying this word game since I picked it up. I’ve never seen a monetization system that’s so careful to not build something where the payoff is always just one more play away. Every time I pick this game up, I get something satisfying out of it. It was also totally worth paying for the ultimate bundle to get rid of the advertisements. Plus the gameplay itself is polished and beautiful, and I never knew how much I could enjoy collecting bears!
