I was also relieved that they took care of the customers that had purchased the app prior to them switching to a subscription model. I understand the need to change your business model at a certain point (Most app developers end up having to do that in order to keep the business running) but very few have cared enough about their early customers to ensure they keep getting the same features they originally paid for.
All these reviewers complaining about the model switch have obviously done so without first checking the support page or contacting the developer directly.

We are sad to hear that you've experienced this, but I can assure you that 1Blocker can't be used to cause such issues. Our app applies simple content-blocking filters in Safari without affecting the rest of your apps or the operating system itself, and 1Blocker is not linked to our users' personal information. Even though our app can protect you from certain cyberattacks, the principal goal of 1Blocker is to remove intrusive content (ads) and prevent sites & apps from tracking you online. The filters we use can highly improve your browsing experience and privacy, but they are not aimed at stopping targeted hacking attacks, at least in the current implementation of the tools we use. Could you please check the following settings just to ensure Safari lets 1Blocker apply its filters: - make sure that all 1Blocker extensions are enabled in the iOS Settings > Safari > Extensions; - ensure that Content Blockers are enabled on all websites in iOS Settings > Safari > [Settings for websites] > Content Blockers; - toggle all default categories in the app itself (under the General tab). At the same time, we are sad to hear that the free version of the app has left such an impression. 1Blocker is a small indie product supported only by its users, so it has always been a paid app. While fully-featured protection is provided by 1Blocker Premium, we also offer a free version that includes basic ad-blocking capabilities, which many customers opt for. The free version gives access to the basic features of 1Blocker and allows enabling one blocking category at a time. For instance, you can activate Block Ads or Block Annoyances; they are probably the most useful ones. This approach is usually enough to make lots of web pages less polluted. Largely ineffective
Seems to me that this app is not being kept updated, for these commonly used sites are all but unreadable on an iPhone as things stand. I’m a bit over these 1Blocker types of developers who flog subscriptions and then down tools.
I can’t support this developer any longer.
“Take the money and run” … it’s not right, 1Blocker. It’s just not ok. Not by a long shot.

So, I reinstalled 1Blocker in no time.
Unlike what some other users have commented, I think the app has improved drastically over the years. In the past, I would see an ad or two popping up here and there. I haven’t noticed any unwanted content recently.
