  • GREAT!

I downloaded this to keep a quick diary. I don't even have to press save...I can switch between dates or exit out and it always saves my stuff. I really like that I can hashtag stuff to be able to find all of my similar entries. It's also very simple and I really like that. There's no main space and you don't have to go into the day to write your entry...as soon as you open the app, you're under today and ready to write.

  • Needs more features

Like the font options. Would be nice ot be able to add pictures and other graphics to the pages in the diary. Could also use more page design options.

    Developer Response

Hello, It should already be possible to add pictures - simply drag them from file or Photos. Not sure what you mean by more page design options? There are more than 100 color themes if you purchase full version. Feel free to contact us at hello@pureformstudio.com or use the feedback form build in app.

I never journaled before. With this app, I can keep track of things daily, easily review my past thoughts and track my progress towards my own personal goals. It is also great for keeping track of prayer lists and answers.
This app will help you start and keep a journal, even if you have never journaled before.

Hello David, Thank you for kind words and first review in Canada!
  • Piece out DayOne

It took only moments for me to be sold. I will gladly pay $16 rather than a subscription and would be happy to pay another $16 if "Diarly 2" is released.

The app is simple and reminds me that I'm here to write, not here to enjoy a fancy app with a mess of features bundled into the necessities for which I'd be forced to pay. Importing is easy, tag organizatoin is very "Bear" inspired which is awesome because they do a nice job with tags in their UI.

I mean really, this is just a darn good, simple, honestly, and fairly priced app that does what it should. It's like iA writer, Bear, and a touch of Evernote were all gentle inpsirations for this product.

My only reccommendation is to add a "view option" or something that could allow me to adjust the size of my entries in the side bar. Maybe options to just show title, or limit the number of lines—something maybe similar to how Evernote allows for adjustments in that realm of the UI.

  • Awesome Daily Tool

I am a writer who has been out of practice for the past couple years. Diarly has been a tool for getting back in the habit of daily writing. I write journal entries, poems, stories, memories, and general ideas for the future. You can add a hashtag anywhere to come back to things that are important. It's a very simple app but incredibly effective for those looking at using writing for its creative and emotional aspects versus social media. 5 stars all the way.

  • Import fails from day one

1.Had high hopes for this app. I like the simplicity and crispness of design.I imported 4000 entries from Dayone.....after a while it advised some entries too long to be imported and should be split. Having removed Day one this was not a viable option. Then refused to synch with cloud error 2.
    2. There is no option on developers’ site to report issues.
    3. Print/export option is greyed out. There does not seem to be any way to export a range of entries to a PDF.
    4. A weird message pops up when you purchase saying if you use within 14 days you cannot get a refund. Consequently, I have an app that does not work and cannot get a refund.

Hello & Thank you for the bug report.  The issue with syncing you had should be now fixed.
  • Makes so much more sense than Day One

I’ve tested both apps at the same time. There is an elegance in simplicity and Diarly has this advantage, and others, over Day One. Choosing this one was a no-brainer. So much so that I immediately purchased this version, where paying for an annual subscription with Day One just didn’t feel right. I understand the reasoning behind it, but with a journal—something so personal—I feel more comfortable owning the app.

One thing I would love to see is the ability to sync the app without having to use iCloud.

Thank you for making this app, making it well, affordable, and with a beautiful UI.

Hello, Thank you for such kind words! It's great pleasure to receive such feedback. The new updates should make UI even more beautiful. Next update will make dark theme available in also free version, update after will bring new app icon. There are no plans at this moment to do other sync methods (it's really hard to do it right!) but we will definitely consider it in future. All depends how many other customers will request it. Application is still in early stage (e.g still no iPhone client). If you would have any suggestions how to improve it or noticed any bugs please send as an email at hello@pureformstudio.com - Krzysztof
  • Diary / Journal

I downloaded this app as I am getting fed up to the back teeth with Day One which I have been using for many years now, they keep making so called improvements which are in reality a backward step and they now do not respond to any concerns that you may have. This app however does what it says seamlessly importing over six years of my Day One diary including all of my pictures. Quite simply it does what I want from a Journal / Diary so I for one will be sticking with it and hope that any future improvements that are made are just that, improvements and not backward steps. Go on give it a try!

  • App is currently great, just a couple things I would like to see

This is the cleanest nicest diary app I have seen. I love that you use markdown but format it in a great looking way even while writing. And as others have said, the simplicity of the app realy makes it perfect for journaling. The thing I was looking for forever was the ability to specify a template for new entries, so thanks so much for that!

There are just a couple missing things that are keeping me from switching over: 1) I love this app, but I can’t bring myself to commit to it if it doesn’t have the ability to export to a format that other apps use. I am worried that I’ll want to switch in a month or two and don’t want to go through manually transfering every day’s journal. 2) I write entries right before I go to bed, which is sometimes after midnight. Right now, I don’t see a way to change the date on an existing entry, I only see a way to create a brand new entry. This isn’t a huge deal, but it would just be a nice little convinience to be able to click the date and select a new one.

  • Just what I’ve been looking for

I've been using Diarly for about a week. I needed password protection and a simple, clean interface...and Diarly is just what I was looking for. Starting up the program and moving between entries is fast--I appreciate that, too. I sent the developer two email questions and they responded the next day—answering both in one email so I know this must be a person and not an automatic reply—and they solved the problem, too. Thanks so much for a great app.
