  • Amazon Firestick Support?

The app is easy to use and very convenient to use on apple portable devices, but I wish there would be support for the Amazon Firestick. Will there be support for the Amazon Firestick coming?
  • Poor standard for FYC screeners

The films crash, freeze, and playback at low quality and then when downloaded sometimes just disappear! The app blocks screen mirroring so members are confined to watching on teeny screens with poor audio quality.

Why are studios happy for academy members to view their films this way? But it is not just this app, it applies to many FYC platforms and it needs addressing asap.

  • No cast to TV?

You want me to consider this for awards, but you want me to watch it on a tiny little tablet screen? Casting to a TV would be ideal. I’m not watching a movie on a tablet
  • Aggressive watermarking ruins films

How am I supposed to evaluate a film when it is constantly broken with incredibly aggressive watermarking? Awful. Just send discs with whatever marking they had before. This is trash and I won’t bother using it next season.

    EDIT:
Guys, you’re watermarking every 10 minutes over the center of the screen. Other studios don’t do this. And I live in an area where my guild does not screen films. I’m well aware of the dangers of piracy, but you’re kidding yourself if you think you’re providing a worthwhile experience. Go ahead, you got a video stream working on the internet, pat yourselves on the back. But don’t pretend that what you’ve made here is watermarked the same or as flexible as the screener discs. Don’t even.

Hello Dapietri. Sorry you had issues. The theatrical award season for 2018 ended over a month ago and the guild access was turned off at the beginning of March. The TV award access hasn't started yet. As for the watermarking, the movies are both visually and forensically watermarked with session-based info from the current user but this has been a policy for over 15 years. All screeners have watermarks even the DVD's. Content piracy is a huge deal for all studios. If the watermarking is an issue for you then we would suggest you attend the free screenings the studios sponsor at local theaters for guild members. Again, we are sorry it did not meet your standards.
  • Useless

No air play to a big screen. Totally pointless app.
  • Seems basic

    No picture in picture view.

    Developer Response

This is accurate. We do not support picture in picture and the app is very basic but that is by design. We wanted a basic app. Login, stream, download.
  • No air play

Being a member of CAS not being capable of playing a movie on big screen and Dolby sound system , renders this screener system USELESS!
Straight to iPhone. Is that a thing?

Hello Captain! Sounds like you had some issues. Please get in touch with our support team at https://support.wbfyc.com/home. You can Airplay from several devices but we do block Airplay on some content for content protection reasons. As to the audio issue, we tested Dolby Surround very early on but decided to release this feature in our next version as this was the pilot/test year. This is coming. Oddly enough, many of the DVD screeners are stereo only too. Please also keep in mind that this digital experience was meant to be an add-on to the physical DVD's that were sent out. We also wanted to launch on more platforms but we only managed to get iOS, Android, Apple TV, and desktop (Mac & PC) out the door in time for award season. Chromecast and Roku support are nearly ready for release.
  • Exceptional interface

The bad reviews are all referring to the lack of Chromecast compatibility. Yes this is annoying but in no way does merit one star. This interface is superb and exceptionally easy to navigate. App developers, please extend mirroring capability to other devices. Other studios, copy this app!

Hi Rishi. We are adding more streaming platforms including Chromecast and Roku soon. Stay tuned! We have learned a lot from this award season.
  • Great app despite flaws

I love the idea of viewing screeners via an app, but like others said, we should be able to cast them to our TVs. I have an Apple TV, so I was able to download the app there and watch, but that restriction shouldn’t be in place. But please continue this idea WB, and improve upon it next year!

Hello Dlakers24! We are working to improve the WBFYC app every day and add features our brothers and sisters in the tv/film business ask for. We will be adding more streaming platforms soon and with the help of Apple we are hoping to allow more Airplay functionality particularly when it comes to player generated visual watermarks. Stay tuned!
  • Hopefully this won't replace traditional screeners!

Apparently WB is okay with guild members watching their movies on tablets or laptops. I know "Mule" isn't exactly "2001" but I'd still like the opportunity to watch it on a bigger screen (without lugging around an HDMI cable). If not, I just won't bother watching it, let alone voting for it. I'm deleting this app until WB makes it Chromecast able.

Hi Kiki - The good news is that we are hoping to launch Chromecast support by the end of January. The bad news is that it wasn't ready sooner. As for watching content on your TV we do support Apple TV's that allow Apps on them (Gen 4 and Gen 5). We also allow Airplaying to Gen 2 and Gen 3 Apple TV's and there was no restriction on airplaying the Mule so even if you had an Apple TV from 8 years ago it would work. This was our pilot/test year and we just didn't have Chromecast ready by launch. Apologies. Look for Roku support soon too. In the meantime if you have any questions or issues please use our 24/7 Support Team (Phone, Chat, Email - during award season only) available at https://support.wbfyc.com/home No other studio has that kind of support.
