Great free form journal

fantastic app for jotting down daily thoughts on the go. It would be great to have the option to have a prompt function with push notifications if you want to go though periods where you answer specific questions every day, eg ‘what is my intention for today’ and ‘what am I grateful for today’?

Response from developer

Thanks for the kind words! And the feature suggestion. I like it! I’m going to put that on the ideas board and see if I hear more echos from other users.

I actually use this app the most

I was skeptical but I have found this app more my style than the other six I tried.

Subscription hit!

Nasty subscription! You should have give a one time purchase option to those who supported you first by downloading and using your app.

Response from developer

The goal of the Zen Pro subscription is purely to give people an option to support the development of the app for $2.49 per 3 month. That’s $0.83 per month! The only thing it unlocks is just the font picker as a thank you. You can choose to ignore the subscription button. It won’t affect your journaling experience cos everything else in this app are still free. For the last release I’ve added all features (auto saving, font size adjuster, keyboard shortcuts) but the font picker for free users. The reason I’ve been spending the $100 annual Apple developer subscription and hundreds of hours to do this is because I believe it is worth that much to me individually, and potentially help many more. I’m also trying to make it even better in the long term, that’s why I want to offer the community an option to chip in. I don’t want to charge a small set of users an one time $0.99? or $5 fee because I don’t believe this is an exponentially growing market segment, journaling is a niche market and will remain one for the foreseeable future. Subscription is the only viable option to build that sustainability. I’m still thankful for the support of early users like you, and I’d love for you to keep using it, so feel free to email me at hi@thezenjournal.com and I’d love to hear your additional thoughts.

Beautifully, minimalistic journaling app

I love how minimal the app is. Everything is straightforward and intuitive. The developer is also very receptive and quick to reply to questions/feedback. I highly recommend everyone check this out

Thank you for the love! 🙏

great simple app

amazing

Minimalist in every sense!

Thank you for this wonderful app!

Amazing!

I didn't even know how much I need simplicity :) thank you from my whole heart for making this app!

Simple, Elegant, Clever

Love this. Perfectly lightweight and I can get right into journaling without thinking about titles, labels, or categorization.

iCloud syncing between iPad and iPhone and a setting to increase the font size would make this perfect!

Very responsive developer interested in user feedback 🤘

Response from developer

Font size increasing is coming. Syncing will be supported eventually but will be further down the line. Thank you so much for the kind words. ❤️ Update: THANK YOU for the 5-star review! It really makes a difference! 👍 Update: Hello again! Font size adjusting is now added. Enjoy!

Might replace Drafts 5 as my quick capture app

this app is sleek and useful for people who can be scatter brained and easily distracted. If that’s you, give it a try for 2 days, it’s more useful than it at first appears, especially thanks to the easy access share sheet

Response from developer

Thank you! I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do!

Amazing

I just started using this app today and I’m already in love with it. The ay it functions is genius and it has made its much easier for me to actually journal. I would give more than 5 starts if I could.

I do have an idea for a new feature though: maybe making it able to sync through icloud? I have other devices I would love to be able to write on the same stream on. :D

😊 thank you for the 6 star shoutout! Syncing is something we want to support eventually but it might take a while because it’s not a trivial task. Happy journaling!
