Great app, great player

We love this player, use it every day—it gets hours of use each day and the app is great for remote controlling.

Two small things I would wish for improvements: the red nightlight brightness doesn’t seem to change when I use the brightness adjustment slider, it always seems to stay bright for me. Secondly, I’d love to use this as a sleep/wake training clock but since I don’t want to reset the times twice a day to account for my kid’s nap and bedtime, I just use it for one of their bedtimes. But if this had a nap function, that would be amazing and I could get rid of my other training clock.

Many thanks for your feedback and ideas! On the first one, the brightness slider adjusts the brightness of the front display only. To adjust the brightness of the nightlight, rotate the right hand button when the nightlight is on. The second one has been mentioned by other customers and is under consideration for the future roadmap.

I feel like a better parent

As a product developer this is one of those products I really wish I’d developed. It’s really well thought out and well executed with loads of great features.
We all benefit from it- My 2 year old loves having autonomy, listening to her stories and using the night light. We use the white noise with our 3month old. My husband and I feel like we are better parents with less screen time and calmer car journeys. I can also see there’s lots of room for growth with podcasts, radio stations and educational content for older children.

There are just two things I would love to change slightly -
1. Please please make it compatible with Apple Car Play. Although it works with Bluetooth, Car Play would be so much easier in the car. Other audio book apps have this and it’s a game changer.
2. The white/pink/brown noise sometimes restarts or stops altogether for no obvious reason. While it sounds very trivial, our baby immediately wakes up when this happens.

Regardless of this, we are converts. Thank you YOTO.

Thank you so much for your review and feedback. It's always good to hear how Yoto is helping parents, entertaining and educating children, and aiding sleep. We do have Car Play on our roadmap and we very much want to add this to a future app release. The sleep sounds content is looping content with a short gap between each loop and we're working to decrease and mitigate this delay in these sounds.

Great addition to learning and bedtime

Love that it is a story, music, learning tool as well as a night light and clock. Easy for little ones to use and they love the display images to help them whilst using it.
Two improvements I’d make...
- the night light to work whilst it’s also sat upright so children can see the clock at the same time. Eg if it set to turn yellow in the morning, they can see it’s 7:00 at the same time.
- to be able to set morn/night lights to be different at weekends! Instead of having to remember to set them later manually.

The app has a glitch at the moment and won’t let me change the sleep/morning times, it just rolls back to the previous time and won’t save. so have just uninstalled and reinstalled to see if that fixes it.

Thanks so much for your feedback and ideas! I'll share these ideas with the team for consideration. Regarding setting the morning/sleep times, could you drop an email to hello@yotoplay.com and ask for Ed and we'll look into this for you to see what's happening to get it resolved.

Amazing design

This device is so well designed that our 1.5 year old is able to play with it and figure it out. What a contraption— simple, well constructed (the player and the cards), but deceptively expandable (if you choose to) with make-your-own cards, Bluetooth, and built in internet radio… it’s like a modern cassette player without any unnecessary bells and whistles.

Would that all products be held to the standards of the Yoto player.

Great app after I found the discovery page!

This works nicely with my one year old and grabs his attention well

Wonderfully loved by all ages

This is the best kids toy we have, and we have all the things! In the car, playing, it’s also a nice learning tool!

Amazing player frustrating app

We recently got the Yoto mini for my son for Christmas and I love it, it has so many features and is like a mini Walkman. It is however let down by the app. This app often crashes which is frustrating. It would be great to be able to add a playlist of the free content to a ‘Make your own’ card like you can with the Tonie player, instead you can only add one item from the free content at a time which then means you have to keep changing it if your child wants to listen to something else, and then the app crashes which is irritating. Also I recently bought some cards in the sale which I planned on giving at different times of the year, but the Yoto account adds them automatically to my app once they’ve been delivered. Although this is a great concept you should be asked if you would like this to happen as some of these were presents (luckily my son is only 5 and doesn’t see the app but an older child might). Great concept but the app just needs a few tweaks to make it as enjoyable as the Tonie I bought for my 1 year old (the Yoto seems a much better concept for my 5 year old but hasn’t been as easy to use via the app)

Hi, many thanks for the feedback. To respond to all of the points you've raised - we have systems in place to spot crashes which may happen from time to time and are few in number but we do fix up as soon as we spot them in time for the next release and we release frequently. I'm guessing that the source of your crash may be around linking cards? Could you drop us an email to hello@yotoplay.com and ask for Ed so that we can make sure that we are fixing specifically the crash that is affecting you, and so that you can let us know your other pain points that we can consider for future updates. Cards may be removed from your account to avoid small prying eyes (and can be re-added by scanning them in the phone or by playing them in a Player). To remove a card, tap on it in the app to show the card details, then tap the three dots menu at the top right and in the visible menu, choose "Remove from the app".

App is defective and support is slow

I created an account prior to linking a player which is preventing me from setting up everything correctly. After hours of research, nothing in the self guided help material addresses this issue. Support is closed for several days. Very disappointing. I’ll do 2 stars because I believe the product will be good once things are working.

Hi, setting up an account shouldn’t prevent you from setting up. Drop us an email to hello@yotoplay.com and ask for Ed so we can give you some assistance.

Brilliant for bedtime

A gift for my daughter 4, it has far more features than I expected. After a proper bedtime story a habit had begun with us leaving our phones in her room to play further stories. So not wanting to form a phone habit at 4 I saw this as a media player but with no screen as such and it was ideal.

It’s surpassed expectations, I’d just love to see some of the retro stories especially Enid Blyton’s Famous Five which we listen to still on Apple Boos audio.

Great device and would recommend for any parent who’s kids love books

Requires the app to work

That’s it; requires the app to work. This isn’t a new technology just a way to gather data.
