Play/pause control does not work.
I have an iPhone 11 Pro, a $1000 phone. The play and pause button is CRUCIAL to allowing you to learn with this app, and it doesn’t work from the lock screen. It will for the first couple of minutes of each section (which tend to be 3-4-5 minutes in length), but then it just “forgets” where it is and stops keeping track of what time it’s at and the play/pause buttons do not function. A huge flaw. The MT Method is the best in the world, but you cannot use it properly with this app! Please, someone take note of this and fix it! People are spending $100+ on this product!Show lessLanguage_Fail
Great app but it could be so much more
It is a great way to learn. It needs to be better organized. I’d like to have the option to pay one price for access to all of the lessons here.

Has a couple flaws but overall worth the investment.
I am a big Michel Thomas fan having listened to his original four products.
This Portuguese program follows the typical Michel style. It does make acquiring Portuguese nicely doable only missing a few opportunities here and there to use a body of knowledge common to many. It has few flaws.
One occasional low point is the recording quality. In the first level course, it's much less noticeable, but in the intermediate, the volume of the main instructor's voice annoyingly drops off significantly at times. It's hard to listen while driving when you have to anticipate and turn the volume up and down so as to hear what's said but then not hurt your ears when the volume returns to normal. I believe there is software that will go through a recording and normalize all parts to the same level.
I have one huge pet peeve with this series. For many, many English speakers, a very common second language is Spanish. It is the easiest Romantic language to learn so many Brits and Americans have studied it. A second is French. Portuguese comes across as almost entirely a clone of Spanish but with some spelling and pronunciation differences. Often, where there is no relation to Spanish, a French reference is obvious. But these facts are almost totally absent in this program (I can't recall any actually). This is an important historical and connective point. And so many times, there is given a made up English phrase for remembering the Portuguese but never anything like, "well, it's just like the Spanish but change the..." which would have been much less of a convoluted connection. Obviously, not everyone comes with a knowledge of Spanish but sooooo many do. It should at least have been pointed out in a general sense in the introduction.

Method is amazing! App could use a little tweaking
I downloaded the “Start Spanish” introductory set of lessons and could not be happier with the methodology. I enjoyed it enough to go ahead and purchase the entire Spanish bundle.
The app itself could use a little improvement. On my iPhone SE, the pause/play buttons are not responsive when the phone is locked, nor through the pause/play actions via my AirPods.
These are minor annoyances and take nothing away from the overall experience.Show lessarwoll
Great course horrible service
I paid $150 and $140 for the complete Russian and Polish courses I really enjoyed the courses and thinks it’s a great way to learn a language.When my phone got damaged I get a replacement phone all my apps ect.transfered to the new phone with the exception of the Michel Thomas when I sent the confirmation of purchase and screen shots of the courses from my old phone to the customer service they replied it was a Pirate app that I purchased and Apple knows about it and can help me .
I went to Apple and they say there is no such thing as a Pirate App or Pirated App and that Michel Thomas should honor their sales instead of adding Library to their name and not sending a new download link when no one is disputing that I paid almost $ 300 and I have shown you the proof so let’s me honest and do the right thing Thank you MikeShow lessmikebend
Good content, extremely poor execution
I’m in agreement that this does not perform as an app. It’s got excellent content but really lacks in flow and control. If there IS a good version of this app & I have downloaded a dud please let me know.AllisonEdenA
