Passepartout, VPN Client User Reviews

Perfect

Was looking for an OpenVPN app that would disconnect the VPN to my home network when already connected to my home WiFi, and this does that seamlessly.

Much nicer OpenVPN client for home routers with VPN servers

If you want better than iOS’s built-in PPTP VPN you might be looking at the OpenVPN client but it’s missing features you’re used to for consumer friendly commercial VPNs, like auto joining based on where you are. This supports those while also letting you connect to your own OpenVPN server.

Great app so far!

Open source, transparent about data collection (there is none), connect on demand and the option to keep wifi (and hence the vpn tunnel) up during sleep. It seems even better than the official OpenVPN Connect app (which, for some unknown reason, cannot keep wifi up during sleep). Great stuff!

Great Lightweight VPN app

Excellent on battery life, turning itself off if I accidentally leave it running.

Fantastic

Such a great app using my own ovpn file connected to my home network the ability to auto connect when I disconnect from my home WiFi is fantastic. Keeps me secured at all times.

Thank you!

This is an amazing and very useful openvpn client. Support for obfuscated connections is the only missing feature which I’m very much looking forward to in this app.

Fantastic OpenVPN alternative.

Passepartout trims off the fat of OpenVPN's stock iOS client, focusing on being efficient, lightweight, and secure, while still packing in robust configuration settings and useful features. One unique feature of note to me is trusted networks: Passepartout can automatically disconnect you from your VPN upon connecting to trusted network(s) of your choice. For example, your VPN could automatically disconnect anytime you connect to your home network, and automatically reconnect upon disconnecting from it. This is extremely useful for anyone who has a VPN configured on a network level at home, but wants to be protected when on the go without any manual work. Passepartout can achieve this! Not to be cliché here, but overall, it just works. And without any added fluff! I reckon I'll be using Passepartout for a long time to come.

Has features that don’t exist in the OpenVPN app

When I saw this app, I wanted to give it a shot because of its simplistic look. Not overall fancy and close to the style guide of IOS.

The feature that I love the most is the ability to conditionally turn on VPN connections based on the network your phone is currently using. For instance I want to be connected to my vpn when on my cell network but not when I’m home. Being able to conditionally do that is great.

It has a nice ability to stay connected and continues to work well. Due to my poor vpn profile configuration, it was able to tell me what features it could not use which is convenient.

The reddit community for support has been great and continues to help assist me when I have questions.

Best VPN client

Best VPN client app I’ve used on iOS so far. It’s smooth, fast and it integrates perfectly with iOS. Great job!
