Needs improvement
I love Busly
Unstable app
Response from developer
Hi JA hypebeast, Really sorry to hear the app isn’t fully living up to your expectations. I know this can be frustrating, especially when you’re trying to get somewhere and I can assure you that the unstable behavior and constant calibration you’re seeing is definitely not the intended behavior. If people can’t consistently count on Busly to help them get where they need to go, then I haven’t done my job properly. To help me better get to the bottom of these issue, would you mind sharing: 1. Your device model 2. The version of iOS you’re running 3. The region / transit agency you’re using If you have any additional details regarding which parts of the app you find unstable, that would also be super helpful. Regarding the buses sometimes appearing a stop ahead of where it’s supposed to be, there’s unfortunately not too much I can do currently to fix that. The problem is I’m totally reliant on the transit agencies to send me accurate data and if they don’t, it’s difficult to alter it as I don’t want to make the data any less accurate than it already may be. Definitely open to suggestions though if you have any ideas for things I could try here! If you’d like to discuss the issues you’re seeing in more detail, you can reach me directly via the in-app support button which you can find under Settings > Support > Contact App Support. From there, I should be able to respond more quickly and better troubleshoot these bugs. Really appreciate you taking the time to flag these issues so I can look into them. Sincere apologies again for any inconvenience this has caused. Alex
Valuable and practical!!

EDIT 2: Hey Mattieuperrin, glad to hear you're liking the app! Wanted to ask you more about the refresh rate being 5 minutes for you since that's definitely not expected. The vehicle positions and arrival times should be updated at most every 10-20 seconds and a banner should be displayed on the Vehicle/Stop detail screen if it's somehow been more than 2 minutes since the data was last updated. Would you mind emailing me via Settings > Support > Contact App Support so I can dig further into what might be causing the issue here. EDIT: Great news! I've just released an update (v1.0.6) that adds a "Show Vehicle Identifiers" toggle under Settings > General. Enable it to see the Vehicle ID, Run ID, and Block ID shown next to vehicles on the map. Please don't hesitate to reach out via Settings > Support > Contact App Support with any feedback or if you experience any issues after updating. -- Hi Mattieuperrin, Thanks for the feedback! I know the bus and run numbers are important to a lot of people using the old app so I’m working on adding this info as quickly as I can. Will let you know as soon as it’s available! Cheers, Alex
Almost great
1. Every bus line is either red or blue. If different lines were different colors, I’d be able to more quickly see at a glance where buses for each line are. I’d also be able to easily differentiate individual buses when multiple lines run on top of each other.
2. When you click a stop, it shows the time until the next bus arrives next to the line name, not the number. At least in SF, bus number is much more important when comparing multiple buses. I don’t even know a lot of the line names. Because of this, when I click on a stop with multiple lines running through it, it’s hard to figure out when the next bus I care about is coming.

Hi blizzards7, This is great feedback! Regarding the colors, while they're currently set by the transit agency I've been thinking of adding a way for users to manually override the color to help mitigate the exact issue you pointed out. Do you think this would be an acceptable solution? While I could change the colors I get from the transit agency myself, I'd prefer to stick with what they send me just to stay accurate to what they intended and then just let users customize the color if needed. For the arrival times, one thing to maybe simplify things is after you tap on a stop, you'll see the stop name and directly under it will be a row of colored buttons, one for each off the routes that pass through that stop. If you tap on those route buttons, you can disable/enable that particular route and the arrival times will be filtered so that only arrival times for enabled routes will be shown. Alternatively, if you care just about a specific bus number, you can tap the Search button in the top left of the map screen and type in the bus number which will show you just the arrival times for that specific bus number. Not sure if this fully solves the issue you've been having so please don't hesitate to contact me directly via Settings > Support > Contact App Support if you have additional thoughts on how these issues could be tackled. Cheers, Alex

EDIT: Just checking in here, was the update able to resolve your issue? Feel free to reach out via the in app Support button (Settings > Support > Contact App Support) if you're still seeing any directions missing. -- Hi Dandy blackjack, I just deployed a fix that *should* resolve this issue. The data feed I was relying on doesn’t go into effect until Jan 20 so I reverted to an earlier version for now. To ensure the change is applied, make sure you quit the app & restart, then wait a few sections for the update to be downloaded. If this still doesn’t resolve the issue for you, please don’t hesitate to reach me directly via the in app Support screen or alternatively by editing this review. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused! - Alex

Hi shagun, Sorry to hear you’re not totally satisfied with the app. I only just released it a few months back so I’m still working as quickly as I can to work out all the rough edges. There’s a lot of improvements I have planned (like adding favorites & nearby routes/stops), but is there anything in particular you’d like to see or an area I should focus on? Feel free to reach out to me directly using the in app support button under Settings > Support > Contact App Support or alternately by editing this review. Cheers, Alex
Perfect!

There’s been quite a few people asking for this though, so I’ve got some ideas of a way I could maybe get around this. It may take some time though, so stay tuned and I’ll be sure to let you know once I’ve found a way to make this work. Alex

With the v1.0.3 update released today, this issue should be resolved and it should now be possible to view the IDs for a particular vehicle. Appreciate you bringing this to my attention and please don’t hesitate to reach out again if you run into any additional problems or have any suggestions! Cheers, Alex
