Disappointing

I've been a Lex user since it's instagram days and even contributed to the kickstarter to build the app. The evolution of Lex has been ultimately disappointing, more so with each update. It's gone from being sex positive app for dykes to increasingly de-sexed. Most posts, even in the gay Bay Area, are seeking mutual aid, advertising housing, or newcomers asking "how does this app work?" It's uninteresting. The app doesn't encourage unique posts. It's also not actually well built. Sometimes notifications show up multiple times, or I'll get notifications for messages that were sent over a year ago. I wish there was a "mute" button for specific users who treat lex like their twitter or tumblr, sending sad poetry into the void, but instead I tend to block them. The constant money grabs by the developers certainly don't help. Overall, Lex used to be a good idea, but I'm bored.

Response from developer

Hi there -- Thank your for the feedback! We take it all seriously and use it to improve the experience. Lex is built for the LGBTQ+ community to find community, friends, hookups, dates, events, etc. We want to be something for each individual, and for the queer community as a whole. There are many kink and sex positive groups (local & not) that you can join, and a variety of other interest and demographic groups to find other like minded people to talk to and meet.

An app where you PAY to make posts?

Seems like a great idea on the surface - but once you spend more than ten minutes on here you’ll find out most everything is behind a paywall. Only 5 posts for an entire month! Imagine if twitter or facebook charged you to make a text post, incredible.

Too many pop-ups

Whenever I open the app, I have to dismiss a pop-up. And I love the idea of this app, but it’s design is too distracting and missing depth (too much flat design)

Banned me for speaking against turfs

How can you ban me for speaking against a turf and using turf language and not investigate :(. I really loved this app until this happened.

Uncomfortable access to photos

There’s no opting out of Lex having access to every single photo on your device, very uncomfortable and uncommon for the modern app sphere…

From Kickstarter to a complete joke

I want my money back for supporting you in the first place, this is not the product I backed last decade

Doing god’s work

The social network anyone queer would love. The only thing it needs more people, so queers—get on it!

lex has needed work for a while

I used to love lex with the stripped down UI, lack of pictures, and inability to comment. Lately with all the updates it only seems to need more work. There is always some kind of glitch— right now it’s the push notif feature not working at all, and you just miss messages (often about important things like housing chats etc). aside from that there is so much veiled transphobia and the mods do nothing about it. I get more disappointed with Lex each day honestly. The support team takes up to a day to respond to requests, which leads me to question why there’s even a support team at all. Don’t even get me started on the bots and scammers. It’s really depressing honestly, and I feel less inclined to use it for anything with every day that it presents the same issues and disappointments with no real action from the Lex team. They want us to pay for an app that barely functions. I don’t get it.

Pros and cons with new interface

I like the new interface, comments are great. But it feels like everything I do there is a pop up prompt, and it’s a bit much. Just let me chill! Also I don’t love that most interaction is from people outside my city. I want to post stuff for my city to see, not random people all over. It’s community right

Mostly good

Seems a bit odd though that only one photo is allowed per user. I’d love to be able to post a gallery of my artwork, another of myself, include images in posts and use a photo as my avatar

Text based is cool, but us arty types like images as well
