Drives you in circles

Would be great if it worked, but spent 15 minutes going round in circles because it wouldn’t “start” the route so just kept sending me back to where I came from when I went to follow the route. When I followed the route using Apple Maps it was very scenic though, just a shame I had to use an entirely separate app.

Hi Dan_a660! With version 3.7, we have just released an app update that includes a brand new navigation experience. This new navigation finally solves all issues mentioned. We would like to invite you to give it a try and update your review if you like. Thanks!

Needs work

Please bring back the map function to explore other area’s routes. The auto generated routes are cool but the real gem of this app was giving the users the ability to record their own route and share it with their friends/local backroad enthusiasts. If I could go back to the previous rendition of the app i would in a heartbeat, this new version is not user friendly

Hi Tomdog 2000! Thanks for your feedback. As a matter of fact, the recording feature got excluded because it was rare used. However, you can always simply create the route on the map and share it with the community.

Loss the ability to make routes in the fly

Loss the ability to make routes in the fly - Would give it 5 but the new update really is disappointing

Response from developer

Hi fjjfjfnjo! We do not understand the feedback as creating routes on the fly is possible. Please reach out to us directly via the feedback button in the app settings so that we can exchange on your thoughts. Thanks!

Good concept but not functional enough to execute

I really like the idea of what the app is. I like that it can generate routes to give you a new experience. But like other reviews, it doesn’t allow for deviations from the route if you want to take in the scenic aspects of your route. My biggest frustration is that you can’t change/inverse the direction of your route when you generate it. Even when choosing a starting point, what if I want to start going straight but the app makes me do a U-turn instead. It’s things like this that makes me frustrated and enough to never open the app or outright delete it. Good concept but it needs more work.

Great idea....but needs much more work

It's a great idea for an app: tell me where you are, and what kinda drive you want to do, and I will create a route for you. And if you like it, share it with your friends. However, it's at Beta at best. Two reasons: (1) it has a hard time understanding you are already on the route. Unless you start exactly where the route begins, it will try to reroute you. So don't leave andoad the app - by the time it's loaded you are on the route, and you're toast. (2) the routing algorithm needs major corrections. It will give you a general idea where to go, and typically that general route is very good. However, it will constantly route you of the main route, through neighborhoods - I guess to add more turns? One time it avruakky wanted me to go through a school parking lot. On small loops you can disobey and just follow the general direction, not so if the loop is a few blocks. Major annoyance, not to say potentially hazardous.

Can't seem to get back on route

Routinely the GPS seems to completely drop and roads loses track of where I am. More than once I'd be coming up to an intersection and realize that roads had just stopped paying attention to where I was. So I'd go through the intersection, get pulled over, then the route on roads would show me some place that I was supposed to turn a while back, but doesn't give me the directions to get back to where the turn is... What is up with that? Every other navigation app redirects you when you get off course... It's very frustrating.

We would like to invite you to give it a try and update your review if you like. Thanks!  === Thanks for your feedback. Please allow us some notes to that:  1. Generally speaking, ROADS always requires an active internet connection to work properly. In addition we recommend to place the phone directly in the dashboard for the best GPS signal.  2. Indeed, ROADS currently requires to drive the route exactly the way it was designed. That means that all the waypoints that the route consists of need to be passed. If that does not happen or if you leave the route, ROADS tries to bring you back to the last known waypoint in the quickest way. In some cases this can cause unintended loops. However, we are aware that the navigation requires more flexibility and our team has been working on a long-term solution for this the past couple of months. It should be available soon.

Close, but not quite there…

I would like to continue using the app, as it did set up a decent route, but I wish it would allow deviations from the designed route. We were having a great drive, and found a fun looking road so decided to take a turn the app had not created. Once we deviated, the app wanted us to turn back and continue from the last point where we had deviated the app has created. That created a frustrating moment, and environment, so we ended up turning off the app. Earlier on that same drive, we stopped for gas, and exited the parking lot at a different exit that we entered, so the app would not continue with the route until we turned back and exited from the entrance we entered the gas station. Not a fun moment. I removed the app from my phone, as every time I considered using it, I realized I wanted to be able to stop to see the sights along the way, and the app would ultimately just be a distraction from the fun because of the issues. Sorry

Unusable

Booked a day off work to go for a drive using this app. The GPS drops out and the app thinks your over here and then over there and then everywhere, the freeze. Reboots and car restarts did nothing.

Good app but missing some key features

Overall it’s a great app for sharing routes. Personally in my country as the roads are very inconsistent in width and quality etc, I don’t use the app for making routes, only for sharing them - once I’ve brought in roads as GPX files.

Some features that would be good to see are:

1. The ability to automatically flip a route and return back to the start. This is perfect for going back home after a drive to the end of a nice road. This avoids the chance of having to map yourself back by memory (you can get lost) or by Google maps (which may recommend a different route).

2. Sometimes when mapping from home to the start point of a route, the app doesn’t realise I’ve arrived at the start point. If I continue going then past the start point, the app keeps trying to route me back to start. It should be able to sense that I am now following the route as shown within the roads app, and accordingly map me to the end of the route instead of the start. There should be some way for the app to know that once I’ve been following the line for the saved route for some time, it no longer needs to map me to the start point of the saved route.

3. It would be nice to have a way to share a route with just your friends, and not to everyone publicly on the roads app.

5 stars just for this beautiful Idea

Always wondered if there’d be a way to find places and roads to drive on that’d give that blissful feel!
And then today I stumbled on the app!
Haven’t tried it but just knowing the app tells you different routes one could enjoy driving is brilliant!
