Journey time increased

Great idea for finding more interesting routes. However, after planning a route for me, giving a journey time of 2 hours, when choosing drive this route it extended the time to almost 3 hours meaning I couldn’t do the route. Why does it do this? Why not give the correct journey time in the first place?

UPDATE : With version 3.7, we have just released an app update that includes a brand new navigation experience. This new navigation finally solves all issues mentioned. We would like to invite you to give it a try and update your review if you like. Thanks!

So very disappointing

I finally found a free Saturday and called up the Roads app to find a fun drive up to Bear Mountain State Park. Waze called for a 55 min drive, so I was encouraged when Roads predicted a 90 min journey. Northern NJ has some amazing, spirited roads so I eagerly set out to follow the route.

However, right away, I noticed odd guidance through 25 mph zones. The app directed me through a parking lot, then returned me to continue on my current road, so I ignored its detour through the lot and continued on, yet the app repeatedly urged me to turn around and go back through the lot. I stopped and restarted the route to get back on track, but again, all I saw was slow drives through light after light.

After 90 minutes of barely exceeding 40 mph at the top speed, I frustratedly deleted the app and used Waze. 15 min later, I reached my destination and used Waze to return home on the Pallisades Pkwy, a terrific road with speed and scenery that I sought from the beginning. Porsche has a LOT of work to do to get me to try this again.

Very cool

Uses your location to give you rides near your area. It has a cool preplay function where you can actually see the route traced out on a map from a semi satellite style view before you take it, very cool.

Trying to find a route now to take, will report back after I’ve given it its trial run.

Why doesn’t clicking the heart button do anything?!

Good app for an MVP. But for the love of god, why doesn’t clicking the “heart” button on a route save it to my favourites?!?! Why do I need to bookmark it instead? What is the difference between these two things?! I’ve lost some good routes cause of it!!

Response from developer

Hi vmorar! Thanks for your feedback. With the "heart" icon, you can express if you like a route of a user. However, if you really want to bookmark = save a route, there is a dedicated bookmark feature available.

Feature request - Apple CarPlay integration

Love the app! Would love it more if I could navigate while I have my phone connected to Apple Carplay.

Response from developer

Thank you for your nice feedback. One of the next updates is going to have CarPlay in the focus and this will be part of it. Stay tuned and see you on the road! // Update: We have just published a version with a completely new CarPlay integration. This should solve your issue. Please check it out.

Concept

Good concept good can’t tell what the route is

Powerful App

Roads is not the most intuitive app, but once I figured out the nuances, it is quite powerful. I host two driving tours per year for our UCR region, our current president asked if there was a way to provide participants with voice, turn-by-turn directions. Roads does this fairly well and I will be advocating for its use by tour hosts. I use maps.ie to create custom routes on my phone, then save them as a gpx file. I’ll then open Roads and upload the file, the route creates in seconds, the details of which (Route name, description, share status, etc.) are easily editable. Being able to offer this type of support to our driving tours, which are extremely popular, will reduce the number of wrong turns, making tours more efficient and enjoyable for the participants, not to mention leaders and sweeps.

Two improvements I’d like to see- first, if you happen to miss a turn, Roads doesn’t take you back to where you deviated. The app seems to be as lost at this point as you now are. Second, navigating to certain areas are not very intuitive. For example, when opening a Group, you are taken to the page where notes are posted. You have to click the three dots in the upper right, then select About This Group to be taken the main page for the Group.

Overall though, great app. Thank you Porsche!

Extremely well made

This app is very well made and easy to use. The routes are great and the customizability is a huge plus.

Response from developer

Thank you very much for your review. We appreciate that you like the app.

Great for what it is

It’s awesome but you can’t use CarPlay and you can’t start the route without being at a starting point which makes it difficult depends on where the starting is

Promising but needs many ease of use updates

The app provides some much needed content. Most issues I found while using the app relate to the user experience. I spent a lot of time liking routes near me I’d like to drive only to realize later that there was no way to see the routes I liked. I can circumvent this by bookmarking the route but there’s no direct bookmark button like there is for liking. There is an extra step of going into the menu to bookmark a route so maybe make this it’s own button in the future or make liked routes accessible? I can’t be the only person to complain about this

Hi SamM87! Thank you for your review. That is indeed a valid point and we have discussed this internally. We will add an overview of all liked routes in one of the upcoming updates. Stay tuned for new releases here on the store.
