This version fixes some usability issues of the photo browser. In version Photon 4.2 we introduced Shutter Sound Suppression. That familiar "click" of the shutter sound—it’s iconic. But let’s be honest, sometimes you need silence to capture the perfect moment. Whether you’re shooting in a quiet museum, at a wedding ceremony, or simply prefer to work without drawing attention, Photon has you covered. In 4.2, we’re introduced Shutter Sound Suppression for iOS 18. In countries where it’s legally allowed, you now have the option to silence the shutter sound when taking pictures. It’s a simple toggle, but one that can make all the difference when discretion is key. How Shutter Sound Suppression Works In iOS 18, and in countries where it’s legally permitted, you’ll find a new Shutter Sound toggle in Photon’s settings. This allows you to suppress the sound when taking photos. However, it’s important to manage expectations, so here’s how the feature behaves: - System Sounds Take Priority: The Shutter Sound Suppression feature will only work if your device’s system sounds are not muted. If your device is muted, the shutter sound will not play, regardless of Photon’s setting. - Regions with Mandatory Shutter Sound: In some countries, like Japan and South Korea, laws mandate that the shutter sound always plays, regardless of your device’s sound settings. In these regions, the settings option will not be present and shutter sound will always play. How to Use It To take advantage of this new feature, follow these simple steps: 1. Open the Settings menu within Photon Camera. 2. Locate the new Shutter Sound option. 3. Toggle it on to suppress the sound when possible. Remember: if your device’s system sounds are muted, the shutter sound won’t play at all, unless you’re in a country where it's required by law. Stay Silent. Stay Focused.
