Just started using it..
Thus far I am impressed. Will use it on my vacation this week and see how well it works. My main interest initially was to have the capability to save pictures directly to an SD card via the USB drive. I have tested that aspect and it works great.
Why ruin a good thing
I already purchased the Camera+ app and I’m upset that I’m force to transition to the Photon and pay a subscription that I don’t want!!!
All my photo library is out of sequence. I do NOT want to relearn a new app. Let me be or refund me the Camera+ purchase. I’ll find something.
All this happen without warning and at the worst time when I had a photo shoot. OMG! So upsetting.

Not working
I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max. This app will not access the SSD drive while other apps will. I have reinstalled it multiple times and restarted phone several times as well. Feature still isn’t available. There is no way to contact support. Just a website that says report the problem through bug reporting in app. That doesn’t exist. After a week Emailed developer directly. Still no response. Extremely disappointed having purchased lifetime license.

Weak App
This app has such a nice polished front side but then when you open the app and start playing around with features, you notice that it’s actually pretty limiting! Unfortunately, camera+ does not work without wifi and this app does, but it doesn’t offer anywhere near the amount of features camera+ has. One feature in particular that is actually extremely important to me is being able to take pictures at different aspect ratios; I understand that the main purpose of this app is taking high quality images with powerful tools related primarily to exposure & ISO + shutter speed settings but switching aspect ratios is legitimately such a no-brainer I can’t imagine why the developers specifically opted to leave it out. I can even understand leaving out digital zoom but I shouldn’t be forced into having to crop my pics after the fact just because I want a particular size. I may be wrong here but I’m pretty sure that changing the aspect ratio wouldn’t affect image quality?? It just crops what’s being taken in by the lens and leaves everything else out, there’s no actual ‘zoom’. Half ready to go develop my own app for private usage just so I can relieve myself of the absolute headache that is finding an app that simply just WORKS and has the legitimately *basic* features I’m looking for! I need freedom with the pictures I take, at LEAST enough to be able to switch aspect ratio!!

There’s a learning curve but simple is best
Been using the photon app for a few years now. I’m always surprised by how little media coverage this app has compared to others such as Halide. After taking a 7 day trial of Halide, I have switched back to photon.
There is no beating photon’s simple and intuitive UI, the ball control for white balance and the overall ease of use within the app.
Photon studio is a lovely edition, being able to see your photos on a larger screen in real time as you take them.
I wish photon enhance was available to customers who have paid for the once off fee as opposed to just those who have an ongoing subscription.
And lastly, Noel from customer service is alway timely in her replies and provides thorough, indepth explanations.
Would be great to see some YouTube tutorials for this app.
I wish more people would review and talk about this app!

Not very good
Manual mode doesn’t allow you to set a multi second exposure for very low light situations. Def not a “Pro” camera app.

Hi there! Thanks for your feedback. Photon's goal is to get you the most data to work with in post-processing, so that you can get the most perfect shot. Unfortunately apps that offer multi second exposures do so by taking a bunch of photos and simulating the effect by compositing them. The iPhone's shutter can't physically stay open that long. Since this would destroy the data of the original photos, it's not something we offer at this time.
Zoom
One very basic feature of this app is missing and that’s the zoom. It only gives you three options of lenses .5 X, 1X and 3X - and you can’t manually control them. There should be a slide bar on the side of the app, letting you zoom in without having to use only the lens features that are available.

Hi there! Since there is no optical zoom available with these lenses, any zoom would be purely digital. Which can be done in post-production and may degrade the quality of your photo depending on the technique used. Because of this we've opted to leave it out of Photon for the time being. If at some point a device becomes available that includes optical zoom, I'm sure that would be a strong consideration for addition.
Beware! Beware! Beware!
With no warning and no means of recovery this company can and will wipe your years of photos clean. They removed iCloud integration from Lightbox photos in Camera+ without any heads-up or possible means of recovery. Where did they go?! This equates theft in my book!
