Do not book

We used outdoorsy to rent a camper van for a ten day trip to Vancouver Island. The van had faulty headlights. We were left stranded on the side of the road. Outdoorsy did not provide road side assistance and suggested we call 911 if we felt unsafe driving the vehicle. We spent two months trying to reach a resolution with outdoorsy before opening a dispute through our credit card company.

Outdoorsy

Great platform to find unique campers at competitive rates. Will definitely use Outdoorsy on our next holiday.

Worst experience

I highly recommend not using this app. After my trip ended, the host took $600 from my account two weeks later. I followed up with Outdoory, and they explained it was for refueling costs and their service fee.

After two months of back-and-forth emails, I managed to recoup $400. The issue is that hosts can input any amount to take out of the bond, and Outdoory doesn’t check it but will still charge you a service fee.

They will leave you in and wind or offer you a voucher… both just as useless

Please, please read the reviews of this app. I wish I had.

Love Outdoorsy

For our first ever travel trailer trip we rented through Outdoorsy. We couldn’t believe how easy it was to find a great trailer that fit our needs. Everything went smoothly and we had a great trip for 28 days. The host were responsive with questions and we became seasoned campers. I would highly recommend this app!

Do not trust this company

My girlfriend and I rented a camper which broke down for over half of our trip. It was damaged by the mechanics in the shop and our host stole our entire $1500 security deposit despite us having the highest level of insurance. They refunded us only $100 despite us losing over half our trip and allowed the host to take our entire security deposit. We’ll be taking them to court.

Beware of Outdoorsy: My Trip Was Canceled and Deposit Not Refunded

I had a deeply disappointing experience with the Outdoorsy app, which I believe is misleading and unreliable. I booked a trip through the platform and paid a deposit more than six months in advance. However, just one month before my trip, the host canceled my trip and refused to refund my deposit.

I reached out to Outdoorsy multiple times to resolve the issue, clearly explaining the situation. Unfortunately, I received no response from their support team. This lack of accountability and communication is unacceptable, and it makes me feel that Outdoorsy is a scam.

I strongly advise against using this app, as their customer service is unresponsive, and they do not seem to protect the interests of their users. Save yourself the hassle and frustration—look elsewhere for your travel needs.

Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear your trip was canceled and you haven't been refunded your deposit. This is most definitely not the outcome we'd prefer our guests to have. I'd love to investigate this in more detail and try to help in any way I can, but I'm unable to locate your account with the information provided here. Please email me directly at experience@outdoorsy.com with "Attn: Jaime" as the subject, and I'll be glad to investigate this further and find out what happened here. Your time is valuable, so I appreciate you taking a moment to share this feedback with us.

Waste of time

I don’t who to blame but the host said he hasn’t receive my request and the site says that the host didn’t accept it. At beginning I was able to chat with the host and I was also able to talk to the technical support but at the end I’ve made two requests with my personal and financial information and I lost my reservation because someone took it while I was waiting for approval. I will delete my account and I want to make sure that all my information will be deleted.

I love outdoorsy

This app is so cool and I hope other people will like it too

Good went BAD

Used for two years and all was fine. This year third year, I had an awful experience. Reserved a trailer for this July in during winter, the owners canceled after a number of weeks. Then, for same trip, reserved another trailer. A few weeks later THEY cancelled. Then, reserved a 3rd trailer for same July trip. We got the trailer for the trip and the refrigerator didn’t work. Spent hours trying to fix myself, short of pulling fridge out. Never worked. We had to keep going out buy ice all week. At end of week I said to owner it would be nice to have a little discount. He then got very mean and short with me. Even tried to charge me $500 extra, saying I stole gear, which I told him was in the trailer. I will never use Outdoorsy again. It’s a good idea gone bad, in my experience.

Hi there, I'm very sorry to hear that your third year as an Outdoorsy guest hasn't been as great as your previous experiences. This is most definitely not what we want for our guests. Ruined vacation

Rented rv for trip from VA to Wyoming from Denise in Fredericksburg Va. we were to leave on June 28, 2024 to pick up Rv on The 27th. Drove 100 miles to get it and Denise had removed the rejection inspection sticker that said the vehicle needed tires, steering, exhaust, and light repair. She said it was drivable. Tires were dipped out and worn. We were going over 5000 miles in this rolling wreck. Had to cancel 9-10 camping reservations that were paid for. Outdoorsy tried to get us something else, but after already paying 5k for this, getting one with no unlimited mileage was not an option. Denise was not caring that she had basically ruined our trip and was going to send us or some other poor schmuck out in something that could either kill us, someone else, or we could have been ticketed for her negligence. Shame on you!!!
