Great app

It’s easy to use and works fine. Not sure what all the negative reviews are about. You just need to understand the difference between types of gluten and gluten free. All the info is there and readily available - what more could anyone possibly ask for!? Just learn how to use the app. It’s not difficult. And choosing where to eat is very easy. Honestly - I’ll be more likely to visit these pubs on the strength of this app as it makes planning much easier.

Not useful for allergies

This app needs a redesign to cater for customers with allergies. For example, if you choose to filter by no gluten (coeliac) you see loads of possible venues.
Happy days, yes?
No.
You then need to tap through each category; mains, desserts, specials etc to find there is nothing on the menu for you. Why does the app show locations that cannot fulfil any of the requirements?

No good for gluten free

Unfortunately the gluten free filter doesn’t take into account food that’s fried in the same fryer as gluten containing food. The restaurant I chose using the app informed me of this resulting in very little I could order. No chips, no mashed potato bizarrely.

Not that useful

I was interested to see an app. that would help those of us with food allergies. However, you’re limited to what they consider an allergy.
I’m vegetarian but also allergic to garlic and mushrooms. As you can imagine, this is problematic as a vegetarian. I’m surprised that it’s not possible to list garlic. It might not be that common as an allergy (?) but it’s certainly common as an intolerance.

Doesn’t fill me with confidence

I applaud the idea, but the execution is appalling. It’s hard to navigate, the food details don’t load and you don’t know if this is because the filter is working or if the app is just buggy. No detail on where the allergen is in the meal so you could ask to swap or omit something from the meal. It’s taken me 30mins to navigate a harvester menu. I’d rather just have it on the menu or speak to someone. This is just an poor dining experience to have to go through.

Menus don’t necessarily relate to real life

Trying to establish allergen information for the menu at a Vintage Inn seemed to indicate that all possible menu choices, particularly Specials, had been listed with no reference at all to their actual availability. In other words, this app just gave us a very long list to navigate and it would have been more conveniently and better presented to put the allergens on the local menu. Time to go back to basics?

Have to allow app to access your location

You have to allow the app access to your location for it to work. It does not need to know your location to show dietary information for a chain such as Harvester. This is clearly a data mining app and should be banned. Download at your own peril.

Response from developer

Hi Gamyer, thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. The purpose of the app is to find a site local to you to make the app relevant. The sites it shows will not be Harvester specific and cover a number of brands. Without the location you would be bombarded with over 1000 sites to work through. If you did want to avoid using the app, an alternative would be to contact the site directly or look at the Harvester allergen information and menus online. This would not use your location to do so.

Filter

Filter is nice - but I would like it to show the opposite. Ie show which menu items do contain the allergen - so that these can be avoided...... or to highlight the menu items with the allergen

Great concept, but confused

Love the idea, especially as my wife is celiac. However, I get a different result when filtering “Gluten Free” under Dietary (0 dishes) from the one I get when filtering Gluten (and all variants) from the Allergen filter.

Gluten Free filter does not work

Used this App a couple of times recently. The biggest problem is that if you use the Gluten Free filter no food options show at all. You don’t know this until you have tried every food category, so it is very time consuming and frustrating.
If the Gluten Free filter showed a list of all the available GF menu options straight away this would be a massive improvement.
We had to search through every menu option (there were about 20 of them) and read the allergens before realising there were only about 3 available gluten free choices.
It would have been far better to simply have GF next to the gluten free items on the menu.
