Great app

Today was the first day I played golf with my new Apple ultra watch and the tag golf app. I have used the app before with my tag heuer connected watch. It was rubbish. With the Apple Watch it is fantastic. Larger viewing area and the battery didn’t die. Everything was prefect. Pretty sure my range finder will only be coming out for golf tournaments.

Best golf app

The Watch app makes this worth it. I like seeing the hole on my wrist, and keeping score. I am a bit confused by the red record button though. Wish you could provide a simple tutorial / “how to use” the watch app somewhere.

The new watch interface is too large.

The huge “record” and “score” buttons take up 1/4 of the screen now. It would be nice if they were less obtrusive or if we could swipe to hide them.

Great when app connects

I purchased the annual subscription after the trial period for my Apple Watch 5. It works great for my home course, but when I tired to use it at other courses, the connection icon keeps spinning and will not connect to display the course map and following functions. Verizon Cellular connection was 3+ bars. The app can locate and download the golf course and load the map. When I start the round, the connection icon keeps spinning and will not connect. It should not do this at courses like Poppy Ridge, Poppy Hills and Chardonnay. I emailed Tag Heuer support but no response. That said, when it connects at my home course at Shadow Lakes, it works great. It does chew up a lot of battery life. After 100% battery life start, battery life was 28% after a 4.75 hour round. I am not sure if the battery drainage is due to programming or the Apple Watch GPS usage itself. I assume it is probably both. I hope support can assist me in why this is happening with me. That said, I would recommend using this app because when it works, it works great.

Save your money

The graphics on my watch were beautiful but the app itself is rather buggy. It has a tendency to skip to the next hole and after some work I can get it back to the correct hole but then when I go to hit my next shot it is back to the wrong hole again. They say you can get yardage to hazards and different pin locations but that only works if they are in the middle. If the pin is off to the side on a wide green you can’t get the yardage as the sighting line goes down the middle from tee to green and can’t go left and right. If you want to record the length of a shot you have to start where you hit the shot and then stop when you get to your ball, pick the club you used and then hit save all the while your friends are standing around wondering when you will hit your next shot. I don’t need to save but there is no way to cancel. Support is worthless as well. I sent 2 emails and only received back the form that says my email was received and someone would get back to me probably in 2 days. That was 9 days ago. My 6 year old Garmin S20 works way better.

We are sorry to read your comment. We have improved the hole tracking setting in the latest 2.2.5 version and we hope it will improve your experience. Also, please note that you can follow your distance on the hole by moving the target on the map. All white lines indicate a 10 yards/meters interval to help you visualizing the distances from the green or any hazards. You get good guidance to the hole at a glance. Good but not great

Watch app is excellent and the phone app is great to keep score on. I really like some of the features like adding multiple golfers and being able to select different parts of the course and see how far you need to go. However…the course information and maps just aren’t accurate enough. Hazards are missing in places and I’ve played courses where the layout is completely different to the app. Also pars are not correct sometimes. I’ve submitted requests to change pars on a regular course I use but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears two months later nothing has changed. I’ll probably start looking for an alternative again.

Great app for Apple Watch

For years I could not find a golf app that worked well on Apple Watch, but the This app does! It gives accurate enough yardages for my game as well as club suggestions. It allows you to keep score and track putts. It also did not kill the battery on my Apple Watch. It works as well as my golf specific Garmin Watch! Love the app!
