  • Well-designed UI, great video playback engine

The best of the bunch right now, and has the makings for being a full-fledged five-star app as it becomes a bit more mature and full-featured. But so far so good! Even now it’s my go-to.
  • Extremely high quality video player

It’s rare to find such a treasure of an app, but Outplayer is handily one of the best video players available for iOS. The gesture controls are intuitive, the interface is clean, and the local web server is straightforward to use for transferring content. Attention to detail is given in small but delightful ways, such as the swipe seek pausing on +-0, useful for when you try to peek ahead bur returning to the current playback position. And the privacy policy is perfect. It states plainly: no user data is transmitted or collected. This app simply is an excellent port of MPV to mobile.

My only wish is for smb support with file browsing, since I try to keep my data consolidated on my NAS. So while I fulfill that need with another app for now, that doesn’t stop me from giving this app 5/5 stars and a full recommendation if you can deal with transferring media you plan to watch ahead of time.

  • Just missing one feature

I’d love to use this as my only video playback app however there are times I’d like to watch on the big screen and there is no AirPlay support, I can use screen mirroring but it’s not quite the same.
  • Cannot delete mp3 file after it was share by other app

From other app, share mp3 file.
It cannot play or delete the file.
Need to support continue play next video
  • An absolutely perfect player

I did not think any other player would be better than nplayer or VLC. However Outplayer has proved me wrong. It is the best player I have seen in a very very long time. For the next version I would request playback speed to be made variable in 0.1 increment.
  • Excellent player

Needed a replacement for VLC as I can no longer get it to download films to my iPad from my Mac.
This was simple to use and has so far played all formats I use.
A life saver, as I needed movies to take on a long flight.
  • Cool passion project! Has one annoying limitation

Really cool to see a solo dev release something that works so well! It plays any video file you throw at it and has a simple interface that is reminiscent of the interface provided by Netflix/Prime Video.

I like the simplicity, but it has a bug/missing feature that's very frustrating. For some videos I play it either plays them with a black border all around or it scales them up so some video to cut off. There's no way to scale them to "Aspect Fit", that is, scale them to the largest size where one edge of the video hits the edge of the screen and none of the video is obscured. (iPhone X, and a video with 1920x816 dimensions)

Also I wish it supported external subtitles but that's probably just me. And Chromecast support would be amazing.

I also think that "prefer landscape" should be the default.

    Cool app!

  • The best player

Hands down the best player out there. While others just make you go trough hoops and loops, this one you just need to press play
  • We’re this close to greatness!

The app that you’ve made is amazing by all means.

Minimalistic, Smooth playback of videos, It has the option of swapping audio and subtitles but it is lacking in my opinion one feature that makes it a bit of a laggard against other apps similar to it (which VLC has).

That would be the option to CHROMECAST it to a smart tv. I think that’s the only feature lacking in it that stops it from making it an amazing app!
