  • Waste of time

Begs individuals to join with its marketing on social media before making you wait 24 hours to sign up only to tell you it’s an “exclusive app” and they might decide to let you join. Not wasting my time on an “exclusive” platform which is faking popularity and self importance.
  • Clique-y and Full of Censorship

This app is being run by someone who only favors a certain look or type of person. I was really hoping this app would be different and that proper expression could be the main factor here, but the founder clearly plays favorites with users and will make sure your content is blocked or censored or removed if he thinks it’s not good enough or if he disagrees with the opinion. Honestly, if you want a similar experience, just go out to a club in West Hollywood and talk to the worst people you’ve ever met.

  • Big fan!

Big fan of Collective! It’s a beautiful space, with beautiful people and sense of community! 🫶
  • a nice attempt

conceptually i feel like this app had a chance to be a fun space, but it’s a soulless, buggy landscape of stereotypically attractive gays.
  • Wasted my time

Registered years ago. Gave them my information. They said the waiting time was 6 months. I opened the app again today only seeing I need an invitation code cuz I’m not working in the creative industry. As a queer space, it’s pretty exclusive.
  • Disappointed and ashamed.

An app that boasted about a community and safe place for the rainbow community to come together and thrive has become nothing more than a discriminative, exclusive platform for those that were privileged enough to work in creative and art related fields.

So if you are a creative person who hasn’t had the opportunity to work in the “acceptable” fields, “Collective” doesn’t want a bar you of.

I can’t believe people that suffered from being excluded from the “social norm” would turn around and do the same thing to their own community.
    Disgusting.

  • Sea of generic lookalikes

Since there is no way to search profiles by interest/hobby, everyone seems to be competing for who has the most generic half-naked photos to attract interest. If your only standards for making connections with guys are that they look conventionally attractive, then you’ll find profile after profile of personality-less men to match with and never speak to here. Boring with no real avenues for conversation. App has a nice interface at least.

  • This app is tone deaf

You can’t really embrace yourself as you are with constant societal pressures of and fitting certain stereotypes.

So you mean to tell me if I’m not an iced oat latte type of gay with a portfolio on public display, I’m not welcome here?

The last thing we need right now is queer spaces being gatekeeped especially after advertising it in a way that makes you feel safe/accepted.

Thing is, I do work in the art field. I’ve been a freelance photographer and graphic artist for 5 years.

It’s 2024. You can’t judge someone based off their social media profile and decide if they’re a good fit for ever being a user of your app. It’s immoral, impractical and low key discriminatory/laced with internalized bigotry.

I’m disgusted and I’ve never prayed on the downfall of another queer person before, but this leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth. Work on a screening process that isn’t harmful to your own oppressed minority. Thanks.

  • Great App, no more waitlist

Collective is a very pleasing app to use. My biggest complaints with gay apps like Grindr, Archer, etc is the sheer amount of crude n*dity, poor UI, and ads everywhere.

Collective does all this incredibly well. The UI is well thought out and user friendly. While there is partial n*dity it’s done in tasteful ways and is accompanied by other aesthetic posts. As for ads, I don’t think I’ve seen a single ad so far.

Additionally, the biggest complaint others have is the waitlist/need for Twitter. When I joined I just gave my Instagram and waited ~12 hours for someone to verify my Instagram account. Which is far from a waitlist, and especially doesn’t match the 6 month comments.

  • Obsessed.

This app is for the free spirit. Have been using for a couple months and am still hooked!
